Oladance Introduces OWS Sports Open Earphones Optimized for Movement

February 14 2024, 00:25
Oladance, the brand that surprised us in 2023 with its Oladance Wearable Stereo (OWS) technology in a true wireless format (Oladance OWS Pro) is back with a new announcement that now looks more like a familiar bone conduction headband, but its actually not bone conduction. Leveraging the same air conduction OWS technology, this new model from the company is an open ear alternative to bone conduction for sports, providing a natural and safe awareness of the environment with even more comfort.

The Oladance OWS Sports open earphones were designed for movement, expanding on the company's air conduction technology as the medium of sound transmission, which unlike bone conduction doesn't create annoying vibrations during music playback and any low frequency information. Open ears offer a lower sound volume with a thinner sound compared to any alternative that plays inside the ear canal, but still allow listening to music and are OK for activities that require awareness. As Oladance describes, they generate more of a 3D sound effect but allow for a more comfortable wearing experience compared to bone conduction earphones.

To eliminate discomfort, irritation, or hearing damage that may arise from prolonged earphone use, Oladance's design rests securely on top of the ear. More importantly they allow users so stay aware of the environment and interact with others. Rounding up its lineup of open audio solutions including the OWS 2 and OWS Pro open ear models, the OWS Sports from Oladance are intended for all types of fitness activities from running and biking to yoga, rock climbing, and more. Boasting an IPX8 waterproof rating, wind noise reduction, and a powerful 15-hour battery life (with 2-hour quick charge), the new OWS Sports is able to withstand the elements.

Combining a Bluetooth 5.3 platform and Qualcomm aptX for high quality sound, the OWS Sports deliver improved air conduction reproduction via a patented Virtual Bass 2.0 algorithm to enhance low-frequencies, while an anti-sound leakage system enables a private listening experience, which is one of the main issues that affect other open ear designs. Embracing the open soundfield - creatively described as "360° home theater quality sound" - Oladance also allows users to create a more personal and customizable experience using the Oladance app to fine-tune an ideal sound profile, with four preset sound modes as well as control sound balance, gestures, and function selection.

Importantly, Oladance's OWS technology and air conduction in general protects the user's hearing for extended use. The OWS Sports earphones are made of smooth, soft liquid silicone rubber (LSR) that provide a comfortable open-wearing experience, eliminating common issues associated with bone conduction earphones, such as pressure to the face and ears and unwanted vibrations. The open-ear design with ergonomically engineered soft titanium wire neck strap keeps the earphones in place. Additionally, the integrated physical control button allows users to adjust sound freely with options for on/off, volume up and down, and more.

The Oladance OWS Sports air conduction earphones are available now for $179.99 MSRP, in finishes creatively designated as Endorphin Silver, Hormone Yellow, Epinephrine Gray, and Dopamine Pink (! :).
