NTi Audio has expanded the possibilities of its XL3 handheld acoustic analyzer and sound level meter even further. The new XL3 firmware V1.42 simplifies sound insulation measurements with an updated, intuitive interface. At the same time, NTi Audio launched new microphone weather protection models WP40-90 and WP62-90, offering enhanced features for even more reliable measurements, and replacing their proven predecessors.
Firmware V1.42 of the XL3 Acoustic Analyzer brings a comprehensively revised user interface that significantly simplifies sound insulation measurements. All third-octave levels in the transmitting and receiving rooms are now displayed as line graphics. This enables intuitive visual recording of the spectrum and also allows multiple levels and reference values to be displayed simultaneously - for even faster and more efficient analyses.
If the background level B2 is measured or imported from a previous measurement, this data is directly available for the receiving room level measurement L2. This makes it possible to quickly assess whether there is sufficient level reaching the receiving room from the transmitting room. This analysis can be carried out both with ‘live’ values and with averaged values.
If an L2 band is less than 6dB or10 dB above the corresponding B2 band, it is labelled ‘b’ or ‘B’ respectively in the XL3 display. When displaying the transmitting room level, the maximum differences between neighboring bands defined in the standard are checked. If this is exceeded, it is labelled with an ‘A’.
These functions enable a reliable assessment of the measurement conditions in advance and reduce the risk of measurement repetitions being required - saving time and effort.
Firmware V1.42 makes it possible to exclude individual measurements from the averaging process. This can be done either directly after a faulty measurement or subsequently during post-processing. Active and excluded measurements are clearly separated from each other in the overview. This ensures that an overview is always maintained.
V1.42 offers numerous other new features such as exporting RT cycles instead of position averages using file switch, display of MAC address, and support for static IP and manually configurable NTP. Organization feature improvements include the ability to disable positions of a measurement series, and placing file switches in the CONFIGURATION folder of the XL3, so they are not lost when the SD-Card is swapped.
Firmware V1.42 is now available for download.
New Microphone Weather Protection Solutions
NTi Audio also announced a new generation of weather protection products, replacing the existing WP30 and WP61 protections, 10 years after their market launch. The new products are the WP40-90 and WP62-90 versions, characterized by improved wind protection and an extended bird protection tip with laterally-protruding elements. An extra water-repellent barrier has also been integrated into the inner microphone protection, enhancing its defense against rainwater ingress.
The new range also includes weatherproof ASD cables in three different lengths, equipped with an IP65 XLR connector for connection to the microphone. The WP40 models are supported by the XL2 and XL3 firmware and are type-approved by PTB. Certification at LNE is in progress.
