NAB Show and Audio Engineering Society to Co-locate 2021 Conventions In Las Vegas

November 19 2020, 00:50
The 2021 Audio Engineering Society (AES) fall convention will co-locate with NAB Show, October 11–13, 2021, this time in Las Vegas. The co-location brings together the premiere convention for pro audio professionals with the world's largest convention encompassing media, entertainment and technology. The AES Show will take place at the Westgate Hotel, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center where NAB Show will be held October 9–13, 2021.

The AES fall convention was previously co-located with NAB Show New York at the Javits Convention Center annually in October from 2017–2019. The two events were held virtually in 2020.

The AES Show is the preeminent pro audio convention comprising leaders in audio engineering, exclusive technical presentations, as well as education and networking opportunities. The event focuses on myriad audio disciplines and applications, including cinema, broadcast and online delivery, immersive audio, sound recordings, productions and live events. The AES Show draws more than 15,000 attendees and more than 300 exhibitors, on average.

"Our October co-location with NAB Show New York for the past few years has proven mutually beneficial for attendees and exhibitors alike," says Colleen Harper, AES Executive Director. "We all miss the engagement and excitement of the in-person AES Show and look forward to once again interacting at the convention with professional audio manufacturers and our colleagues."

"We are excited to be building the most significant, in-person media and entertainment event of 2021 and are ready to bring the industry together once again at NAB Show in October," says NAB Executive Vice President of Conventions and Business Operations Chris Brown. "Together with AES, we will provide unparalleled access to critical information, inspiration and solutions for audio engineers and content creators."

"In the interest of supporting the business, health and safety concerns of our show community we have decided to move the 2021 NAB Show, previously scheduled for April 11–14, to October 9–13, 2021 in Las Vegas. With any difficult decision, there are trade-offs. Moving NAB Show to October means we are considering alternative 2021 dates for NAB Show New York, held annually in October. On the plus side, the 2021 Radio Show will co-locate with NAB Show in Las Vegas as will NAB’s Sales and Management Television Exchange; and there is opportunity to add additional partner events. Beyond this, we have done our best to avoid direct conflicts with other domestic and international events, and have reached out to allied organizations and partners to both share our thinking in advance and to offer to work collaboratively toward turning this into an opportunity for all," stated Gordon H. Smith, NAB President and CEO.

The NAB Show, held October 9–13, 2021, in Las Vegas, is the world's largest convention encompassing media, entertainment and technology. NAB Show is the ultimate marketplace for solutions that transcend traditional broadcasting and fuel the digital storytelling economy. From creation to consumption, across multiple platforms, NAB Show is where global visionaries convene to bring content to life in new and exciting ways.

The Audio Engineering Society (AES) serves as the pivotal force in the exchange and dissemination of technical information for the industry. Currently, its members are affiliated with more than 75 AES professional sections and more than 95 AES student sections around the world. Through local section and regional events, topic focused training and workshops, international conferences and conventions, AES provides the industry valuable opportunities for professional networking and personal growth.
