We’ve not heard much from Uli Behringer’s ventures for almost all of 2016, except for the fact that MUSIC - the new group of companies now combining Behringer, TC Electronic, Midas, Klark Teknik, Lab Gruppen, Lake, Tannoy and Turbosound, among others - has been hiring and restructuring all its world operations, centered on expanded manufacturing facilities in China. Now MUSIC confirmed the appointment of yet another ex-Harman executive, this time to lead its Installed Sound efforts.
We have yet to understand when Behringer and the rest of the brands from the MUSIC group will return to market and when they will announce new products, since the company virtually disappeared in 2015, focusing on the integration of the brands it acquired from TC Group. Following InfoComm 2015, MUSIC didn’t introduce any new products - with the notable exception of Lab Gruppen - and public appearances from its brands at trade shows has been almost completely absent of product displays, while the company has been busy hiring a completely new team, appointing new distribution partners, and moving all production activities to China.
Still, MUSIC continues to unveil ambitious plans to lead the market segments on which it remains active, such has commercial and performance installation, live sound, music production, musical instruments, residential installation, computer audio and portable audio. To lead its ambitious goals in the global installation market with brands such as Midas, Klark Teknik, Lab Gruppen, Lake, Tannoy and Turbosound, the company has now appointed Van Williamson - formerly leading Harman Professional’s global installed sound - as Vice President, Installed Sound.
On his appointment, Van Williamson comments, “I am extremely excited to be part of a revolutionary vision to deliver outstanding customer experience and product solutions for our commercial customers. The incredible power and passion of MUSIC’s 4,000 people organization together with its industry leading technologies of its world renowned brands means that together with our global distribution partners we will provide life-changing solutions.”
“MUSIC’s state-of-the-art in-house manufacturing facility and the world-class engineering teams are something spectacular. The company’s obsession for customer experience, innovation and dedication to make a difference offers customers a truly unique experience,” adds Van.
MUSIC’s SVP of Enterprise, Andy Trott adds, “Van has an incredible track record in the industry which spans over 20 years with some of the industry’s leading brands. He has big ambitions, as do MUSIC, so we now have a world-class team that can lead MUSIC during this exceptionally fast growth period. We are hiring many more people as we are assembling a world-class team – and we’re always looking for passionate talents.”
