Mod Electronics is proud to serve the audio industry with Mod Capacitors. Each capacitor is focused on providing the highest performance and quality available to builders, technicians, tinkerers, and musicians. Mod offers hand-crafted oil capacitors, perfect for signal path use, as well as high temperature electrolytic capacitors for solid operation in power supplies and elsewhere. The already vast range of capacitors has been expanded with further options.

Mod Electronics, the company that many audioXpress readers mostly recognize for its audio components and DIY kits, which include both guitar effect pedals and guitar amplifier kits, including a tube-driven spring-reverb amplifier (The Wave) and two MOD Classic Tube Amplifiers, also offers its own range of Mod Capacitors, carefully specified to fit the creative needs of builders, service departments and tinkerers who need to experiment with classic instrument amplification tones and audio projects in general. Mod also offers a range of beginner friendly Guitar Wiring Upgrade Kits, that are used to upgrade existing guitar electronics and learn along the way. These include all high quality parts and components to enhance the overall tone and playing experience, including naturally selected Mod capacitors.

As passive devices that are used in almost all electrical circuits for rectification, coupling and tuning, capacitors (condensers for many) are simply two electrical conductors separated by an insulating layer called a dielectric. The conductors are usually thin layers of aluminum foil, while the dielectric can be made up of many materials including paper, mylar, polypropylene, ceramic, mica, and even air. Electrolytic capacitors have a dielectric of aluminum oxide which is formed through the application of voltage after the capacitor is assembled. Characteristics of different capacitors are determined by not only the material used for the conductors and dielectric, but also by the thickness and physical spacing of the components.

Mod Electronics created a selected range of high quality, hand-crafted Oil Caps, all perfect for guitars, amplifiers, and all audio equipment projects. Each capacitor is impregnated with mineral oil for a void-free winding providing highly stable capacitance. The capacitor is hermetically sealed in an aluminum casing to ensure a long life. The detailed construction results in a precise capacitance with a tolerance of ±10%, and a temperature rating between -20°C to +80°C. Mod Oil Caps are available in a range with values from .001 μF to .1 μF (600V voltage rating), all featuring a red stripe to designate the outside foil, and an axial termination.

Designed with tube amplifiers in mind, Mod Electronics aluminum electrolytic capacitors provide builders with quality capacitors that offer long-lasting performance at the highest degree. These capacitors are rated at 105°C, a temperature gamut that provides a highly-stable capacitance in any device, be it vacuum tube or solid state. And the Mod electrolytic capacitor line features capacitance values that are common in many vintage amplifiers but are not readily available today - 1 μF to 250 μF with a voltage rating of 25 to 500V. Builders and techs can confidently use these capacitors to match the original specifications of their equipment.

All Mod Electronics products are sold by Amplified Parts, the renowned audio electronics component supplier from Tempe, Arizona, offering an extensive catalog and selection of items that also includes vacuum tubes, speakers, accessories, supplies and literature.
