Listen Technologies Adds ADA Compliant Wi-Fi Assistive Listening Systems Using Recycled Samsung Smartphones

Listen Technologies Corporation added a new solution to its Listen Everywhere advanced wireless listening product line, which offers the lowest latency in the industry and is easy for venues to install on their existing wireless networks. The Utah-based company launched a complete two-channel Listen Everywhere assistive listening package that includes smartphone receivers using recycled Samsung phones and is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Listen Technologies delivers audio solutions so everyone can hear clearly and share the same great experience, while helping people listen and participate in environments where hearing is difficult, whether on a guided or self-guided tour, in a house of worship, a theme park, theater, or other venue.

The Listen Everywhere solution streams audio over Wi-Fi to personal smartphones so they function as receivers for assistive listening systems in museums, classrooms, corporate facilities and more. To access Listen Everywhere for assistive listening, guests can download the free Listen Everywhere app on their personal smartphones, select their preferred venue audio channel, and hear clear audio in their headphones via their devices. In venues offering Listen Everywhere, guests can listen to venue audio from their smartphones using headphones or earbuds or request an existing receiver. With either option, users also can stream sound directly to Bluetooth-enabled headphones, hearing aids or other devices.

The Listen rackmount servers are a convenient and reliable way to stream audio sources to both the dedicated Listen Everywhere receivers, as well as to guests’ smartphones who have downloaded the Listen Everywhere mobile app. The system connects an existing Wi-Fi network service and streams audio to up to 1000 users. Cloud-based management also allows for simple management of the system, including updates and customization options. Additionally, in-app features support custom welcome messages, videos, banners, and more, all providing another point of contact with the users.

The new Listen Everywhere LWR-1020 receiver makes the Listen Everywhere assistive listening system compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It uses a recycled Samsung smartphone, which has been altered to perform only the function of assistive listening via the Listen Everywhere application, with no other device services or applications accessible. The mobile devices are offered from Listen Technologies exclusively and with no affiliation with the original manufacturer, or any carrier. Product warranties and service assistance are offered solely from Listen Technologies.

The LWR-1020 receivers are now available exclusively in the US as an add-on to existing Listen Everywhere servers in the market. The receivers are also available in a bundled ADA compliant assistive listening system (LWS-10) that includes a two-channel server, rack mount kit, two LWR-1020 receivers, two protective cases for the receivers, two neck loops, two ear speakers, and a signage kit.

With this solution, venues with Listen Everywhere can offer receivers to guests who do not have, or prefer not to use, their own smartphone to stream real-time audio. The receivers also support hearing aid telecoils when used with a neck loop. Having dedicated Listen Everywhere receivers to offer guests, in addition to neck loops and signage, ensures venues are in full compliance with ADA requirements for assistive listening.

"Listen Technologies pioneered audio over Wi-Fi for assistive listening and continues to develop this powerful technology and add to the popular Listen Everywhere product line," says Maile Keone, president and CEO of Listen Technologies. "We are thrilled to bring the dedicated Listen Everywhere receiver to the market and help venues meet the audio needs of their guests so they have a positive experience and will want to return."

"We have heard from channel partners that their customers want an ADA compliant assistive listening solution that utilizes audio over Wi-Fi technology," says Cody Hall, product manager at Listen Technologies. "The complete Listen Everywhere offering with dedicated receivers meets that need. It is an incredibly powerful system that is easy to set up, easy to operate, and easy for guests to forget they are using while they hear clearly. What users won’t forget is feeling included and engaged."

Listen Everywhere works on a venue’s existing wireless network. The Listen Everywhere server sets up easily and broadcasts any audio across the network and over Wi-Fi to receiver devices. Venue operators can customize the Listen Everywhere app with welcome videos/ads, brand colors, sliding banners, and logos.

The Listen Everywhere LWR-1020 Wi-Fi Audio Receiver (available only in US) can be fitted with an optional LA-511 Protective Case (Otter Box).
