Lectrosonics Announces Global RF Scan Database for Wireless Operations

August 23 2022, 00:55
Lectrosonics created a Radio Frequency Scan Database for those using wireless microphone systems anywhere in the world. The database hosts scans from .sdf (Wireless Designer scan data file) or .csv (comma separated values) common standard file formats. These files can be used to populate frequency coordination software for analysis purposes and to know what a given RF landscape looks like and help wireless system operators prepare for a location or venue in advance.

While anyone can peruse, search, and download the available scan files for their own use, registered users can also upload files for others to access. RF spectrum scans from Hollywood, Singapore, Vancouver, New York, Belgium, and Rio de Janeiro are already available on the online database, which is expected to expand fast.

"Since Wireless Designer has become a powerful tool for all Lectrosonics wireless system users and even users of other systems, these scan files can help wireless system operators to prepare for a location or venue in advance," says Karl Winkler, VP of Sales & Marketing at Lectrosonics. "Lectrosonics has always been focused on providing unique and useful tools to the pro audio and production sound communities, and we hope this new online scan database is helpful."

The Wireless Designer software includes a spectrum scanner and coordination package. The receiver can be tuned across the available bands (via the modules) and presented in a graphic display. The data from the scan, along with any custom frequency data (including imported lists), can then be incorporated into the frequency calculations for an accurate, real-world channel coordination. The powerful spectrum scanning and walk test recorder features make site surveys easy.

The Global RF Scan database is found on Lectrosonics’ web site under "Resources," or click here.

Well respected within the film, broadcast, and theatre technical communities since 1971, Lectrosonics wireless microphone systems and audio processing products are used daily in mission-critical applications by audio engineers familiar with the company’s dedication to quality, customer service, and innovation.
