June 30 2022, 02:10
Safran Seats has unveiled Euphony, an innovative passenger experience solution for Business and First class seats that provides passengers with a headset-free and high-quality individual sound experience. The solution, revealed at the Aircraft Interiors Exhibition in Germany, has been developed in partnership with French audio manufacturer Devialet, contributing with its electroacoustic engineering expertise to this joint effort.

Yes, there is such a thing as a trade show where people travel from all over the world to discuss the airplane interiors and how to make economy class seats even smaller and less comfortable for airlines passengers. The real motivation though is about Business class and First class passengers which continue to see their experiences improved, motivating those who can to spend more to escape the hell of traveling in economy.

And a big motivation to travel in Business class and First class seats is the possibility to enjoy the latest entertainment systems, and not being forced to wear ANC headphones just to escape the snoring or the non-stop conversations from the passengers next to us.

French company Safran Seats is one of the world's leading manufacturers of aircraft seats, for both crew and passengers. The international group operates in the aviation, defense and space markets with a global presence, 76,800 employees and annual revenues of EUR 15.3 billion in 2021.

With its latest design, Euphony, Safran intends to offer high quality sound to each individual passenger, in every position of the seat, enabling them to make the most of the entertainment content provided by the airline free from headsets and cables. Because when traveling in First Class, passengers don't like communication barriers with fellow travelers nor the cabin crew - the Euphony seats enable that seamless on-board experience.

Euphony was made possible thanks to Devialet’s unique patented acoustic technologies and acoustic tuning expertise, coupled with Safran Seats invention which consists of two Devialet bespoke loudspeakers on each side of a standard sized headrest. Together, the design provides the passenger with high-fidelity sound and enables the system to adjust in real-time to the audio content and the ambient cabin noise to offer an optimum listening experience without affecting other passengers on board.

Available across the Safran Seats Business class and First class product portfolio, Euphony is an intelligent solution that was already selected by a first launch customer and will enter into service in 2023.

"Bringing Euphony to the market aligns with Safran’s vision to innovate and offer the best passenger experience. Our partnership with Devialet, a world leading acoustic company, brings one more option for our airline customers to customize their seat out of a wide range of options available across our full range of products," says Quentin Munier, Safran Seats EVP Strategy & Innovation.

Franck Lebouchard, CEO at Devialet adds: "We are incredibly excited about our partnership with Safran Seats, bringing Devialet’s world-class technology to aircraft through this unique innovation. We believe great sound should be available at every moment, whether on the ground or in the sky, and with Safran Seats we are one step closer to that goal."

Devialet is a French company operating at the intersection of luxury and cutting edge consumer audio technology, combining sound quality with a sleek and modern design. The foundation of Devialet’s success was built upon its Expert Pro amplifiers, Phantom speakers, and the latest Devialet Dione soundbar.
