In what has been termed a “strategic alignment,” US-based Danley Sound Labs – renowned for its advanced pro audio loudspeaker technology – and Germany-based Dynacord – an audio electronics pioneer for over 70 years – announced that they will be utilizing each other’s strengths to offer state-of-the-art sound system solutions.
“This is a big step forward for us, and we’re very excited about this development,” says Mike Hedden, Danley’s Chief Steward in Charge. “Working with Dynacord will change people’s perspective when they think about Danley, as it allows us to go wider and deeper with our product offerings.” Dynacord, part of the Bosch Group, is equally energized by the opportunity to work closely with Danley. “Danley has a particularly strong following in the United States, and they are also known around the world, so we’re excited to link together,” comments Dynacord Marketing Manager Robert Ferguson. “They are an engineering-driven company, as is Dynacord, and that approach is what makes us a great fit.”
The relationship positions Danley and Dynacord to grow their unique and proprietary technologies together in both familiar and fresh markets. “This strategic alignment will open a lot of doors,” says Skip Welch, Danley’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “Dynacord is a technology leader, and we see their sonic excellence and software innovation as assets to Danley users. Additionally, Dynacord has some products that we do not currently offer, which will also allow us to have extensive options while maintaining our high quality standards.”
Dynacord is part of the Bosch Communications Systems family of brands, which also includes Electro-Voice. Dynacord is known for high‑quality, reliable amplification and active sound systems, with hundreds of thousands of amplifiers made by Dynacord used around the world. In recent years Dynacord stepped-up its technology benefiting from developments in Class-D amplification, digital signal processing and networked audio.
As Bosch is a founding member of the OCA Alliance, the company helped to drive the development of IP technology in the audio industry, creating products that understand multiple languages and work to all standards. Whether it’s talking Dante or AES-67, the Bosch OMNEO IP architecture ensures that all IP capable electronics, such as the Dynacord TGX and IPX series amplifiers, form the backbone of any audio network.
Recently, Dynacord introduced a key development in networked audio, with the introduction of the MXE matrix mix engine series. The first product, the MXE5 (pictured below), is a performance audio matrix with 24 x 24 crosspoints that provides comprehensive routing and mixing capabilities, while also serving as a communications hub for IP-based peripherals with extensive control and monitoring functions. The entire network infrastructure – including Dante audio transport and AES70-compliant control – is already onboard. MXE5 is ideally suited for fixed installations in stadiums and sports venues, convention, conference and event centers, modern churches and larger educational facilities. This matrix mix engine can also be easily integrated with media control systems from Crestron and Q-SYS using plug-ins.
Also of note is the fact that MXE's DSP configuration is accomplished in Sonicue sound system software, one of the most powerful software solutions in the industry, offering complete control and easy, intuitive operation. In addition, MXE5 also features an HTTP or HTTPS server application programming interface (API) for integration with IP-based media and building control systems.
"The best audio quality has always been a top priority for all Dynacord products,” says Christian Glück, Senior Product Manager, Dynacord. “But integration capabilities with media control and building management software are becoming increasingly important to the market. With our new third-party plug-ins and programming interface, MXE5 now possesses an enhanced feature set that makes it even better suited for such requirements. We will continuously expand these features in future."
Danley Sound Labs was founded in 2005 and enjoyed immediate success largely due to Tom Danley ’s reputation for building unique speaker designs and powerful sound reinforcement products. Danley Sound Labs quickly built a powerful line of loudspeakers, subwoofers and other products that are now proven and established in countless sports facilities, worship spaces, theaters and performing arts centers.
“Danley loudspeakers have a reputation for sound quality, while also providing the coverage and output required to fill entire stadiums and arenas with fewer individual loudspeakers,” Ferguson adds. “Now, when they are powered by Dynacord amps and mixers, it will be the best of both worlds. This alignment brings these advanced technologies to an expanding international customer base with an exceptional value proposition.”
