d&b audiotechnik Introduces Installation Specific KSLi Line Array System

February 11 2020, 00:20
d&b audiotechnik announced the introduction of the KSLi System at ISE 2020. Delivering a complete installation package for the most comprehensive range of installations and applications, the system features the KSLi8/KSLi12 loudspeakers, combined with KSLi-SUB/KSLi-GSUB subwoofers, the new 40D high performance installation amplifier, plus a complete catalog of system specific accessories and customization options. A solution set for systems integrators to handle the most challenging applications without compromise.

For ISE 2020, d&b audiotechnik selected a full range of technology and design solutions that are directly designed thinking about the specific needs of system integrators and fixed installations. Among the products being showcased on the d&b stand (7-C210) is the new KSLi System package, including the new 40D amplifier and the A-Series augmented arrays.

The KSLi System package comprises the KSLi8 and KSLi12 loudspeakers combined with matching KSLi subwoofers for both flown and ground stacked applications and d&b’s new 40D amplifier. Completing the KSLi system approach is a full catalogue of system specific accessories, hardware, customization options, and software.

Underscoring d&b’s commitment to deliver significant performance improvements over all existing installed audio solutions, the KSLi8 and KSLi12 are acoustically identical to the mobile KSL System and deliver the same performance characteristics, including full-range broadband directivity control, extended low frequency response and enhanced high frequency resolution in a complete package designed specifically for high performance installations.

The KSLi8 and KSLi12 loudspeakers, with 80° and 120° horizontal dispersion, respectively, provide consistent pattern control down to the lowest frequencies, in part due to the geometry of two front-facing 10-inch drivers and two side firing 8-inch drivers, which couple and apply cardioid techniques to cause directivity with low-frequency headroom. The new KSLi SUB excels where space or weight limits exist, either flown in an array KSLi-SUB or ground stacked KSLi-GSUB.

The 40D installation amplifier is designed for fixed installation applications and is the most powerful four channel Class-D installation amplifier in the d&b range. This high-performance amplifier provides the power density required to drive the KSLi loudspeakers to full potential. Further supporting the needs of integrators in the field, the new 40D amplifier also features a 4.3-inch color display showing a range of speaker settings, device status and more.

The entire d&b SL-Series represents a significant evolution in the design and performance of line array systems. The ability of the SL-Series to control the full frequency spectrum minimizes low-mid frequency masking in the reverberant field, in turn allowing system engineers to ensure the delivery of a pristine and powerful mix while being able to reduce the overall sound pressure level in the venue. The directivity greatly improves the system’s program intelligibility while dramatically cleaning up the stage sound as well as backstage environment from extraneous noise.

In the d&b demonstration room at ISE 2020 (rooms E105 and E106) there will be a single d&b Soundscapes session throughout each day of the show. The session will invite attendees to experience d&b Soundscape, the immersive audio system from the German audio solutions specialist, while exploring the evolution of technologies and innovation within the d&b system philosophy and how these can be applied in real-world applications of any scale.

“ISE resents a unique opportunity for our team to connect with a broad spectrum of global AV professionals and end users,” states Amnon Harman, CEO, d&b audiotechnik Group. “As we continue to work closer with specifiers and integrators, shows like ISE provide an opportunity to not just present our latest offerings, but to increasingly understand how we can support the unique applications and projects they are seeking to address.”
