Audix Enters IEM Market with A10 and A10X Studio-Quality Earphones

Audix, the Wilsonville, Oregon-based manufacturer of professional microphones and headphones, has entered the in-ear monitor category and is now shipping the A10 and A10X Earphones. Delivering on the strategy that was first announced at NAMM 2020, representing the largest product expansion in the history of the company, with products completely designed in the US, Audix has now launched its first earphones.

The Audix entrance in this increasingly popular category is made with two variations of the same essential design, the A10 and A10X, this last one for extended bass response. The company doesn't call them in-ear monitors or IEMs, because they are aware that creates an impression that the products are targeted at the musician and stage market only, while the "earphone" category also covers the large market of music and personal audio enthusiasts who are fond of the form-factor and appreciate the multiple driver design approach that these allow. In this case, Audix opted for a more traditional single dynamic driver for its single source phase coherence.

According to Audix, the new A10 Earphones are engineered to deliver studio-quality performance for live sound monitoring and critical listening with exceptional imaging and isolation. The design features a single 10mm dynamic, low-mass moving coil assembly and titanium alloy diaphragm with a focused frequency response to 19kHz. The A10X variation is designed with a same-size dynamic low-mass moving coil assembly but using a composite beryllium diaphragm instead, delivering extra clean highs and extended bass and improved sensitivity (107 dB SPL/mW).

Both models feature lightweight and durable injection-molded polycarbonate shells which are internally textured and ported for acoustic control and accuracy throughout the frequency range. The earphones ship with three sizes of silicone ear tips and use gold-plated MMCX connectors that allow for 360 degrees of rotation for ease of placement. The included silver-plated, oxygen-free copper 1.5 m cable is equipped with a reinforced wire wrap near the connector to further ensure that the earphones will stay securely in place.

“Great sound starts with a great driver and the proprietary, no-compromise drivers of the A10 and A10X earphones leverage our decades of dynamic transducer experience,” says Steve Johnson, VP of Sales and Marketing at Audix. “Whether you are on stage or on a plane, the new Audix earphones deliver high-fidelity listening for the most discerning ears.”
