Audioengine designs some of the best looking, and most affordable wireless speakers in the market, offering a wide range of options for desktop and general home audio use. To match the brand's compact active speakers, the new S6 subwoofer offers expanded performance in a compact size. With 210 watts of power in a subwoofer that fits almost anywhere, the S6 boosts any desktop, home theater or gaming setup, using a front-firing woofer in a sealed box for deep and punchy bass.

Audioengine is based in Austin, Texas, and has been building up a strong reputation in home audio since 2005, creating quality products that sound great, look great, are easy to use, and make people want to listen to music every day. The company's products show that the company thinks about all the design details and use cases, offering versatility and convenience.

The Audioengine range of powered speakers now gains a new performance level with the addition of the S6 powered subwoofer, adding a perfect bass extension. It's a relatively simple sealed box design, in a cabinet measuring a modest 10”H x 10”W and weighing only about 15 lbs, using a highly efficient Class D amplifier and a 6″ long throw woofer. The compact cabinet enclosure is a robust block of 15mm thick MDF, enabling accurate bass while being small enough to fit in many places, including a desktop.

Frequency response is specified down to 33Hz, and Audioengine added adjustable crossover points between 40 – 130Hz, which accommodates all possible uses, from an LFE channel, to reinforcing the smallest desktop speakers. And with 210W peak power total (140 W RMS), it offers enough power to fill most rooms with ease.

As with most Audioengine designs, the back panel reveals a series of options. The S6 features dual analog audio inputs, allowing to connect two systems at once. Typically, this enables connecting two audio sources, such as a pair of powered speakers for music listening and an AV receiver, for example. And the S6 features a selectable energy saving mode that can detect when there is signal from an audio source, and automatically go into a low-power mode when there isn't - great for TV sound.

In terms of connectivity, the Audioengine S6 offers a 3.5mm mini-jack plus LFE/RCA inputs for having the two simultaneous audio sources at once. And Audioengine offers its optional W3 wireless sender/receiver kit for convenient placement away from the main speakers. This system can be added easily using the USB charging port, which can also be used to power other USB devices. There's also a phase flip switch to maximize bass performance.

The Audioengine S6 is shipping now in matte grey finish, and retails for just USD $299. All Audioengine products come with a 3-year transferable warranty.
