Audioengine Announces A2+ Wireless Powered Desktop Speakers with Bluetooth 5

February 20 2019, 00:25
Audioengine continues to expand its range of great sounding compact wireless speakers. The new A2+ Wireless Speakers feature an advanced Bluetooth 5 module and were designed for desktop use but with sufficient power to fill a room when needed. Premium analog power amplifiers are built inside the left speaker, providing a very efficient system, with an auto-standby idle mode included to conserve power when not playing music. There's even USB, analog inputs and a subwoofer output.

Audioengine home speakers combine a cutting-edge Qualcomm CSR8670 SoC supporting Bluetooth 5, aptX and AAC to allow a solid transmission of up to 100 feet / 30 meters (and sometimes more) with no drop-outs and no blips. This range is not reliant upon the ebb and flow of the home Wi-Fi strength at any given point. As the company says, Bluetooth audio has come a long way in the past few years as well, and the implementation of the aptX codec allows for near lossless audio transmission that rivals the sound of many wired music systems.

The new A2+ speakers are simple to use and designed for the way people listen to music today. Users can connect wireless or wired, digital or analog sources, and play their own music library or stream TIDAL, Spotify, Pandora, and YouTube from just about anywhere in the house without dropouts.

Amplifiers are built inside the left speaker for an efficient mini stereo system that makes setup a breeze. And the pair comes complete with connections for any phone, tablet, computer, and turntable - and even to add a subwoofer. Wireless setup takes about a minute and no apps to download or Wi-Fi passwords to enter. For users using the A2+ Wireless speakers on a desk, a computer can be connected directly with a USB cable for a high-end listening experience.

Otherwise, the new A2+ Wireless were designed with the same philosophy of previous products from the Austin, TX, company, combining great sound and simple setup and operation. Unlike most smaller computer speakers, Audioengine 2+ Wireless cabinets are constructed of 18mm-thick high-density fiberboard, rather than plastic. The woofer cones, of high-quality Aramid fiber with custom voice coils and magnets and rubber surrounds, produce surprisingly low, smooth bass and mid-range. The ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeters with neodymium magnets, provide detailed highs. The amplifier is a class A/B designT, located in the left speaker. All circuit boards for the power and preamp sections are vertically mounted for maximum mechanical shock protection.

The Audioengine A2+ Wireless retail for $269 per pair and are available now in black, red and white finishes from over 400 authorized worldwide resellers or online direct.
