The Audeze LCD-1 was shown for the first time at the AES NY 2019 Convention, precisely because the company believes this will be a model that will appeal strongly to audio engineers, music producers and studios in general. The new circumaural reference headphone features Audeze’s renowned planar magnetic technology in an open-back, foldable and lightweight design - weighing just 250 grams - comfortable for extended listening sessions, mixing and mastering.
Handcrafted in California, USA, the LCD-1 features Audeze's patented Ultra-thin Uniforce diaphragms and Fluxormagnets, in 90mm planar drivers to provide the sonic detail, accuracy and wide dynamic range that users expect from the brand. Even with its significantly more compact circumaural design, the LCD-1 delivers a transparent, spacious sound stage and stereo imaging, with rich bass and no audible distortion.
The lightweight construction combines generous memory foam earpads and a robust headband for extended comfort during long listening sessions, with each model shipping with a 3.5mm to dual 3.5mm premium braided cable for tangle-free connection, with reversible connectors, 1/4" adapter and a zippered travel case.
“With the LCD-1, we’ve created our best sounding headphone in a compact design that’s easy to use and convenient for travel,” states Sankar Thiagasamudram, CEO of Audeze. “Whether you’re a veteran sound engineer that quickly needs to check audio with reference quality headphones or an audiophile, you’ll find the portability and sound quality of the LCD-1 to be incredibly versatile.”
