Atlona and Symetrix to Emphasize Audio over IP Interoperability in Upcoming Webinar

August 28 2018, 00:45
Following the announcement of their strategic alliance at InfoComm 2018, Atlona and Symetrix will take the first steps of a co-education initiative with a webinar. Scheduled from 10:30-11am on September 20, “Systems Design for Networked Audio” will outline the essentials of managing AES67 and Dante audio in a networked AV ecosystem, along with specifics on applying Atlona and Symetrix solutions to strengthen the overall infrastructure. The educational initiative, will offer a high-level overview of audio design, programming and control in a networked AV ecosystem.

“As facilities transition from circuit-based routing of audio and video, integrators are looking to go bigger, longer and further with scalable networked AV systems,” says Erica Carroll, Education and Training Manager, Atlona. “As the integration options for AES67 and Dante escalate, there is value in communicating the specific roles that Atlona and Symetrix play in the distribution, processing and control of audio across IP networks. This webinar will provide awareness of the benefits and challenges of transitioning, and how Atlona and Symetrix can add value.”

Carroll will co-present with Chris Painter, Senior Technical Sales Engineer at Symetrix. According to Painter, the webinar is geared toward integrators, consultants and programmers that have limited experience with Atlona and Symetrix interoperability in a common networked architecture. This initial webinar will therefore be structured as a high-level overview, with more technically-oriented webinars expected to follow over the coming 12-18 months.

“Dante has become the industry standard, and AES67 is the next step toward overall interoperability for networked audio,” explains Painter. “As a result, compatibility across different products continues to increase. For example, Symetrix has evolved to support third-party Dante products in our Composer software. Atlona shares our philosophy of driving AV over IP interoperability. We see this as an opportunity to educate on how Symetrix DSPs and Atlona infrastructure solutions, notably their OmniStream AV over IP platform, can orchestrate harmony and strengthen the value proposition in networked AV ecosystems.”

The Atlona OmniStream 324 (AT-OMNI-324) IP to USB Adapter allows extending USB from peripheral devices to a PC over Gigabit Ethernet.

Painter adds that Atlona’s Velocity IP-enabled AV control platform will also feature in the webinar, with an emphasis on the benefits that moving control to the network can bring to the systems integration and management layers. Likewise, he notes that while discussing how Symetrix DSPs as the pertinent core is paramount to the overall theme, highlighting the simplicity of integrating Dante and AES67 with its Composer software will be a central focus.

“We’ll emphasize the simplicity of using Composer software to browse the network and create connections to receive Dante and AES67 audio from any device on the network,” he adds. “The added benefits that Atlona’s infrastructure and control solutions bring to networked operations from there will make it clear how powerfully the two companies work together.”
