Apogee Electronics Announces MiC 96k for Windows and Mac

USB microphones are not considered alternatives to established standard professional microphones, but they already managed to carve a market niche for its convenience in applications like podcasting and voice-overs. The popularity of mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad have opened that market to more sophisticated and practical alternatives, such as the Apogee MiC, a USB/iOS condenser microphone with cardioid pickup pattern, and built-in preamp with gain control. Now Apogee announced the MiC 96k, also compatible for Windows 10, apart from Mac.

The Apogee MiC 96k features a wide dynamic range for capturing clear and detailed vocal recordings, allowing users to easily set the recording levels directly on the microphone and keep recording, knowing their tracks will be distortion-free. The high-quality A/D converter and built-in preamp offers up to 40dB of signal gain and make it easy to record any type of source with great fidelity, including demanding acoustic instruments like guitar, piano and percussion. The MiC 96k also simplifies the recording process for voiceovers, podcasts and interviews and delivers professional results, which have been attested over the years.

A 2015 TEC award winner for Outstanding Technical Achievement, the updated version of Apogee’s MiC 96k leverages the convenience and sound quality of a PureDIGITAL USB connection with a decent condenser microphone capsule designed for capturing sources in controlled acoustic environments, making 24-bit/96kHz digital recording anytime, anywhere. The updated version now works on Macs as well as Windows 10 computers and is also compatible with iOS devices, needing just an additional Lightning cable. According to Apogee, the MiC 96k can be used with any ASIO4ALL driver compatible software on Windows 10, with confirmed support for Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Audacity, and Cubase, among other audio recording applications.
