Miami-based manufacturer of high-performance audio and video cables, Wireworld Cable Technology, announced the Helicon 16, a new series of 16-gauge compact speaker cables, designed for internal wiring and DIY applications. The new cable solution will be previewed at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.
These highly flexible cables consist of two flat conductors that are twisted and bonded together. This bonded helical structure stabilizes the conductors, eliminating the need for an external jacket. This design also provides the uniquely lifelike sound quality of Wireworld’s patented DNA Helix conductor geometry.
“After years of development, I’ve finally succeeded in creating a 16 gauge cable that sounds close to a direct connection — the scientific reference standard for cable fidelity,” says Wireworld’s president and founder, David Salz. “I am confident that Helicon 16 makes improvements that speaker designers have not heard with previous cables.”
Helicon 16’s two flat insulated conductors contain sixteen parallel copper strands that are arranged as eight pairs. According to the designer, the gaps between those pairs are essential, because they channel electromagnetic signal energy to provide audible and measurable improvements in fidelity. Helicon 16 is also extremely easy to strip and connect to internal or external speaker terminals.
The new cable will be available in Spring 2016 with Oxygen-Free copper or Ohno Continuous Cast 7N copper conductors. Pricing has not yet been announced. Wireworld will showcase the Helicon 16 along with the Headphone Cable Polygraph and its full line of products during CES 2016.
