beyerdynamic surprised the market by releasing information about its new DT 1770 PRO professional studio headphones prior to the presentation at the 2015 Hong Kong High-End Audio-Visual Show and IFA 2015 in Berlin. We are glad they did, because these are Tesla 2.0 drivers in closed 250-Ω headphones!
The German company introduced the new DT 1770 PROs as headphones engineered for recording, mixing, monitoring, or mastering, in the studio or in live situations, “the perfect solution for professional users who demand maximum quality.” The new headphones are clearly positioned as a new premium model in the range of professional beyerdynamic headphones and are the evolution of the studio legend DT 770 PRO.
The Tesla 2.0 drivers are a part of the outstanding features of the closed 250-Ω headphones. According to beyerdynamic, these drivers, which are being used in professional studio headphones for the first time, “ensure significantly enhanced performance and accuracy. They offer maximum efficiency and ensure precise, completely distortion-free sound quality with the finest resolution and impressive spatial properties even at very powerful output levels.”
The DT 1770 PRO are ideal headphones for live acts as the extremely high efficiency drivers assure a perfect listening experience in the loudest environments. The Tesla 2.0 drivers use a triple-layer compound diaphragm that attenuates partial vibrations, while an additional high precision mesh and carefully selected acoustic fleeces all contribute to clear reproduction and the precision required by professionals. “The triple-layer compound membrane allows a previously unknown level of brilliance in the reproduction of overtones, as well as thoroughly impressive bass reproduction,” the company adds.
In addition to its sound, the new DT 1770 PRO offers an attractive design. They reflect the heritage of the legendary DT 770 PRO, while numerous details add fresh accents, like the anodised aluminium yokes. High-quality accessories are also part of the basic version – the coiled cable and the straight cable (both included) are single-sided and securely attached to a lockable Mini XLR connector.
All components such as end pieces, yokes, ear cups, and headband are replaceable and ensure a long life. The comfortable, replaceable velour and high-quality leatherette ear cushions and the adjustable head-band with replaceable pad ensure superior comfort for a long period of time and an absolutely safe fit. The supplied hard case ensures safe transport or storage, protecting the headphones and accessories.
Due to its closed design with a high ambient noise attenuation and an enormous maximum sound pressure level, the DT 1770 PRO will be appreciated by both musicians, sound engineers and producers working in the studio or monitoring applications. And the optimised design of the DT 1770 PRO will ensure a comfortable fit for long sessions.
