The continuous effort to differentiate products in the crowded headphone market is leading manufacturers to brand new concepts, including headphones that “flip” to speakers. Headphone & speaker hybrid concept pioneer Flips Audio now announced the new Flips XB model with reinforced bass resonator.
Flips Audio, headquartered in Wayne, NJ, was founded in 2011 and is the electronics division of Ideavillage Products Corp. Previously, the brand introduced the world’s first headphones with built-in amplifiers that “flip” into powerful speakers. Now, “just in time for the Holidays,” Flips Audio announced its latest innovation—Flips XB. The new model offers a potent bass resonator, 40-mm neodymium speakers, as well as a detachable in-line Mic cord that enables users to switch from music to telephone mode on their mobile devices.

According to the company’s press release, “like its HD predecessor, Flips XB is a powerhouse headset that goes from solo headphones to social amplified speakers with just a flip of the ear-cup. The bass resonator in the new XB’s gives the user a pulse-pounding sound that is physically felt and heard.”
The new Flips XB comes in metallic charcoal gray with a vibrant cobalt blue accent and cord. The memory foam ear-cups allow for near noise-cancelling and long-listening comfort. Flips Audio headphones are rechargeable through any USB and come with a protective, color-coordinated carrying case. Flips XB costs $150.
