Slovakian start-up company Boldburg announced its RAVENNA partnership. Boldburg was founded a year ago by enthusiastic engineers to develop innovative solutions and products for professional high-end audio applications. Their initial focus was on developing a superior modular digital multicore with support for sample rates up to 384 kHz and dynamic range up to 135dB which will be debuted at the forthcoming Prolight-Sound 2016.
Boldburg is an innovative professional audio company which aims to provide solutions where previously none existed. Founded by Marek Petrinec in 2015 after five years of research in high quality audio, their products use only top-quality components and are designed around AD and DA converters by ESS technology and signals are sampled at the sample rate of 384 kHz / 24-bit. Dynamic range may reach up to 135dB and THD+N up to -120dB. The modular mechanical design includes high-quality connectors and robust materials suitable for re-use.
Boldburg’s Galileo product line is a modular multi-core/stage box, loaded with a wide range of features and functionalities, including processing and even recording. At the top of the features list are redundancy and high availability principles. Significantly, every element of the Galileo product range is hot-swappable. This means that, for the first time in the field of professional audio devices, it is possible to supplement or exchange modules in case of failure even when they are running, thus greatly improving the stability and availability of the device.
According to Tomas Koctur, Boldburg COO, “Boldburg was founded to create a product which we felt was missing on the market but, more importantly, that would be genuinely appreciated by our customers. Our lead engineer, Marek Petrinec focused on no-compromise audio quality which was honed to perfection in order to satisfy the most demanding customers. We used only top quality components in order to deliver a product of the very highest specifications.
“It therefore stands to reason that we have the same high demands of any AoIP protocol to use with our products. When we did the research, there was only one that met – indeed, exceeded - our criteria and that was RAVENNA. RAVENNA is a truly outstanding solution for media transport in IP environments – it provides the highest performance characteristics of anything else on the market and yet remains open, licence-free technology,“ adds Koctur.
Andreas Hildebrand, RAVENNA Evangelist and Senior Product Manager of ALC NetworX, is also pleased with the partnership. “We are delighted to see growing adoption of the RAVENNA technology, particularly by specialized solution providers,” he commented. “Since RAVENNA is an open and license-free technology, it is especially well suited for companies in a start-up situation or indeed any company wishing to benefit from a cutting-edge audio transport solution whilst keeping costs down. By integrating RAVENNA’s AES67-compatible audio-over-IP streaming technology, Boldburg builds on standardized and future-proof network interoperability for their advanced digital multicore solutions.”
Boldburg will be exhibiting at Prolight+Sound 2016 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, from 5 to 8 April, in Hall 4.1 Booth E53.
