Beyerdynamic Presents T5p Second Generation Tesla Portable Headphones at CES 2016

Beyerdynamic had an effective presence at CES 2016, showcasing the best of its new generation headphones with Tesla drivers. Among the demonstration areas the highlight was the worldwide launch of the second generation T5p, a closed version of the T1 flagship, optimized for portable players. This was one of the best headphones we heard at CES 2016, even in the always noisy and busy show-floor.

Since 2010, beyerdynamic has offered audio enthusiasts the T5p, a version of the T1 flagship Tesla model that is optimized for use on portable devices. Like the recently updated T1, the second generation of the T5p is now available, offering an updated, warmer musical experience.

According to the Heilbronn brand, additional attenuation in the patented Tesla driver eliminates disruptive high-frequency resonances. The geometry of the baffle design has also been optimized, while the single-layer baffle material has been replaced with a more stable, high-tech compound material. This reduces vibrations to a minimum, resulting in even clearer reproduction with silky treble and ultra-precise bass.

The electrical resistance of 32 ohms makes the T5p an ideal partner for portable audio devices. Thanks to the Tesla technology, the low-impedance sound dynamic transducers unleash the full audio potential of smartphones, tablets and high-resolution players with     300 mW power handling capacity.

The T5p can also connect to a hi-fi system or a high-quality headphone amplifier. The textile-covered cable made from ultra-pure OCC 7N copper is the gold standard of audio connections. It is detachable, and can be replaced with a longer version for more freedom of movement. A lead with a 4-pin XLR connector for symmetrical connections is available as an added accessory.

Thanks to its closed circumaural design, the T5p reliably prevents unwanted noise from penetrating inwards, or escaping outwards. Normally, closed headphone designs restrict the spaciousness of the audio reproduction. That’s not the case with the T5p: tilted sound transducers positioned on the casing shell on the wearer’s ear deliver an extremely spacious sound with a wide soundstage – and a transparency usually associated with open systems.

The headband and ear cups are made with the highest-quality artificial leather that the market has to offer. The protein-coated surface fits like a second skin and keeps its comfortable grip and stylish look, while the memory-foam earcups allow for increased comfort. The T5p adjusts gradually to the shape of the users head to provide a comfortable and completely pressure-free fit.

Like all other premium headphones from beyerdynamic, the T5p is manufactured entirely by hand in Heilbronn, Germany. The new portable Tesla reference model is now available from authorized retailers and online for $1,299.
