SoundID brings Sonarworks studio monitor and headphone equalization software as a personalized audio enhancement software for integration with consumer electronics devices.
"We are excited that SoundID is now enabled in the newest 1More earbuds," says Helmuts Bems, CEO and Co-founder of Sonarworks. "Sometimes it’s not always possible to satisfy the audiophiles of the world leading to many disgruntled users looking towards a software-based equalizer to fine-tune each frequency subset to their own taste. There are differences to our preferences, our hearing is different and it changes with age - now finally there is a technology that accounts for all of that with SoundID as it’s the first machine learning approach to sound for consumers," he adds.
As 1More recognizes, size, comfort, color and material choices are all fairly subjective from person to person, but none more so than the actual sound itself when it comes to the headphone industry. Accounting for every single user's taste is tricky, even for the most astute of sound engineers.
Luca Bignardi, the sound engineer responsible for tuning the sound of 1More products, recognizes that despite their best efforts and expertise in tuning the perfect sound for each of their headphones, sound is still very personal and subjective. "Every listener has a different way to perceive the sound they're listening to,” says Bignardi. "I always had to refine the way I re-shape the sounds - every device has a different attitude to reproducing the sounds even if they are equalized to sound in the same way." He also acknowledges that "as we moved over to Bluetooth devices, I had to adapt my tuning style."
Commenting specifically on Sonarworks SoundID, Bignardi adds, "SoundID is doing more than simply compensating the device. Through a short AB test that everyone can do, everybody can now get a personalized profile that completely adapts to his or her own taste. This technology makes something what was never possible before."
1More decided to offer this SoundID integration with its latest ColorBuds 2 true wireless earbuds, which combine personalized sound with the inclusion of Active Noise Cancellation provided by the company's proprietary QuietMax technology. The QuiteMax design uses a proprietary tuning process to the two-way audio system, with dual band ANC modes, and wind noise reduction. This also makes it possible to offer environment awareness when using the Pass-through mode. A combination that offers a perfect foundation for SoundID personalization, allowing the ColorBuds 2 to cater to all tastes. The SoundID sound profile is enabled via the 1More Music app.
The ColorBuds 2 also feature new dynamic drivers with a graphene diaphragm that 1More says helps to "eliminate the chaos caused by ANC circuitry". And to enhance the wireless Bluetooth transmission, 1More implemented a Qualcomm QCC3040 Bluetooth 5.2 chipset with aptX Adaptive to automatically adjust the bitrate to deliver better sound quality or lower latency depending on usage scenarios.
Qualcomm’s cVc 8.0 noise cancellation for improved microphone quality complements 1More's dual microphone setup per earbud to filter out the ambient noise and improve the clarity and quality of voice during communications. In addition, Qualcomm’s TrueWireless Mirroring Technology provides a seamless swap between both the left and right earbuds and improves connectivity to unpredictable Android smartphones.
With an IPX5 design inspired by dripping water droplets, the 1More ColorBuds 2 earbuds are available in three distinct finishes and offer up to 8-hours of playback on a single charge. The USB-C charging case offers an addition 24-hours, and also supports fast charging and Qi wireless charging.
