Recognizing the ubiquity of Bluetooth as a requested wireless audio option, PreSonus announced a new stereo receiver solution for convenient connectivity with studio monitors and speakers. The new PreSonus MicroStation BT compact device is a Bluetooth 5.1 stereo monitor controller that is able to receive audio from a smartphone, tablet, or another Bluetooth source and feed it to existing audio systems. For better integration with studio systems, the MicroStation BT can also be hardwired to a powered subwoofer to create a 2.1 listening environment.

Test Bench: The SDx10 Home Audio Woofer from CSS Audio

The driver under test in this Test bench is the SDx10 home audio woofer from Creative Sound Solutions (CSS) Audio, using XBL^2 dual gap motor technology licensed from inventor Dan Wiggins. The CSS SDx10 also has a well-appointed feature set that includes a very stiff coated black paper/carbon fiber blended composite cone with a convex black hard paper dust cap, NBR surround, and semi-progressive cloth spider. All this is driven by a (2.4" six-layer voice coil with two 12mm thick ferrite magnets sandwiched between a thick XBL-configured front plate and black-plated thick T-yoke. Test Bench: The L26ROY 10” Subwoofer from SEAS

This month I characterized the 10” L26ROY subwoofer from SEAS’ new Extreme line. The SEAS L26 series from SEAS was popularized by several of Siegfried Linkwitz designs (sold by Madisound as kits), including his "pièce de résistance," the LX521.4, which utilized four L26RO4Y subwoofers (the four-layer version). These 10” woofers were built in Taiwan for SEAS, but that production has now been brought home to Norway and reintroduced as the Extreme subwoofer line.
