Audioengine continues to expand its range of great sounding compact wireless speakers. The new A2+ Wireless Speakers feature an advanced Bluetooth 5 module and were designed for desktop use but with sufficient power to fill a room when needed. Premium analog power amplifiers are built inside the left speaker, providing a very efficient system, with an auto-standby idle mode included to conserve power when not playing music. Test Bench: The Wavecor SW275BD01 Home Audio Subwoofer

This month, I characterized the SW275BD01, a 10.75" high-end home audio subwoofer from OEM manufacturer Wavecor. This driver has a well-appointed feature set that includes a proprietary cast eight-spoke (four twin spokes) cast aluminum frame, a very stiff black mica/paper composite cone, further stiffened by a 4" convex black hard paper dust cap. Suspension is provided by a FEA optimized low-loss (high Qm) NBR surround plus dual 6” diameter black flat conex spiders (dampers). This article was originally published in Voice Coil, October 2018.

This a Test Bench of Tang Band's W3-2088SOF, a high XMAX 3.5" home audio RBM Micro subwoofer. The W3-2088SOF is built on an injection-molded eight-spoke frame that supports an unusual rectangular housing. The really unusual feature is that the W3-2088SOF does not use a spider. Instead it gets its compliance from two surrounds like a dual spider configuration. The voice coil former is vented below the inside diaphragm and also vented between the two diaphragm.
