Audioscenic, the UK-based spatial computing startup that enabled the very first consumer-focused true 3D audio speaker, announced that its Amphi software package now also supports headphone processing. The Amphi software suite integrates 3D audio beamforming technology with a wide range of consumer computing devices, and this update adds HRTF virtualization for multichannel surround content giving users the ability to also listen through headphones.

Alliance for Open Media Proposes Royalty-free Immersive Audio Specification

The Alliance for Open Media is a non-profit industry consortium formed to develop open, royalty-free technology for multimedia delivery that can "serve as alternatives" to the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) standards. The organization is the creator of the AV1 Video Codec and now proposes an Immersive Audio Model and Formats (IAMF) Container Specification that the organization says will enable ecosystem-wide innovation in the Immersive/Spatial audio domain.

Neumann released MA 1 v2.0, the latest version of its MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment room correction solution, now with optional multichannel extension. In addition to many detail improvements, for the first time, the optional Multichannel Extension for MA 1 Release 2.0 makes it possible to align surround and immersive installations with the same precision. The room correction works up to 7.1.4 configurations, with all network-enabled Neumann KH Line studio monitors.
