Anyone visiting the NAB 2018 show was certainly surprised by the Blackmagic Design booth, the largest ever, filled with so many products that any effort to see everything would take the great part of one day. Among the many unveilings for NAB, and only a year and a half since the Fairlight acquisition, Blackmagic unveiled a much improved DaVinci Resolve 15 software with important new audio tools and features, while showing the first of a new generation of Fairlight modular audio consoles.

Sound Devices Announces New AMBEO Spatial Audio Partnership with Sennheiser

Earlier in 2017, Sennheiser confirmed that Sound Devices would be one of the companies participating in its ‘AMBEO for VR’ partnership program. Now Sound Devices confirmed the practical result of the partnership with the launch of its MixPre-6/MixPre-10T portable audio recorders, which will help professionals record and monitor high-quality 360 spatial audio for video. The two companies are showing the first AMBEO-certified portable audio recorders with binaural monitoring at NAB 2018.

Expanding on the first presentation of USound’s technology at Mobile World Congress a year ago, in 2018 STMicroelectronics hosted a working product demonstration of a in-earphone using only one single MEMS speaker driver per side, as well as a spatial audio demo using 14 drivers on over-ear headphones, proving the technology’s full potential. MEMS speakers developed by USound and manufactured by STMicroelectronics combine minuscule size, low profile, and high efficiency, enabling multiple wearable form factors.
