Austrian Audio Announces Two New Instrumental Mics with Innovative Swivel Joint Mechanism

Austrian Audio introduced two new microphones, optimized for use on instruments: the OD5, an active-dynamic microphone, and the OC7, a true condenser microphone. Both mics are handmade in Vienna and subjected to the strictest quality assurance processes. The OC7 features the OCC7 small diaphragm capsule, also handmade in Vienna. Most noticeable in the new design is the "Swivel Joint" mechanism.

The author describes a microphone amplifier designed to interface a standard dynamic microphone to a soundcard or other computer microphone input with a 5V through 2.2kΩ bias to the microphone connector ring. Shure was upbeat during NAMM 2016 with the introduction of its new KSM8 Dualdyne Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone, targeting the growing live performance market. The KSM8 is a dual-diaphragm dynamic handheld microphone and a development that Shure says is “the most significant dynamic microphone technology advancement the industry has seen in more than 50 years”.
