Elgato, the hardware and software brand for content creators announced the launch of Wave DX, a premium XLR microphone using proven dynamic capsule technology designed in close cooperation with Austrian microphone manufacturer Lewitt Audio. The professional-looking Wave DX microphone works with any XLR preamp or audio interface and will deliver studio-quality sound for streamers, podcasters and even gamers.
When paired with the Wave XLR microphone interface (offered as a bundle on Elgato's website), Wave DX integrates with Elgato's powerful Wave Link software mixer, allowing creators to blend their mic feed with multiple audio sources, create sub mixes, and add third-party VST effects, including EQ, compression, or reverb. Creators using GeForce RTX GPUs can also benefit from NVIDIA Broadcast integration, which enables AI-powered noise and room echo removal effects that dramatically improve audio quality (almost as good as having a Mac, but offering all the fun of configuring drivers and complicated setup on PCs).
Like all Elgato software, Wave Link integrates perfectly with Stream Deck to give user instant, tactile control of an entire audio workflow. Wave XLR also makes controlling Wave DX easy thanks to a silent capacitive mute button and multifunctional control dial, while Elgato's lauded Clipguard technology prevents sound distortion when input levels peak.
Built from the ground up to reproduce precise vocals without coloration, Wave DX make it easier for creators to sculpt their sonic signature with effects and EQ. The wide cardioid polar pattern picks up lifelike lows and detailed highs while rejecting unwanted background noise. An internal pop filter reduces pops and hisses caused by plosive speech sounds, while steel construction reduces internal noise artifacts and protects the capsule. A removable logo can be mounted on the left or right of the microphone and rotated to look right on camera, while the included mono mount prevents a connected XLR cable from jamming.
Investing in a new microphone and interface setup can be challenging for some users. To make it easier, Elgato offers special launch bundles, including the Wave DX microphone, Wave XLR USB interface, Wave Mic Arm, and an Elgato XLR cable.
Elgato is owned by Corsair, a global developer and manufacturer of equipment for gamers, content creators, and PC enthusiasts. In 2018, Corsair acquired Elgato, which had decades of experience in video cards, studio controllers and accessories for gamers and creators.
