This article discusses how Warwick Audio Technologies designed a completely new type of transducer for high-end electrostatic headphones using the latest materials, validated with computer simulation tools from Comsol. The design process for the High-Precision Electrostatic Laminate (HPEL) transducer was first available in the outstanding Sonoma Model One, the world’s first headphones to use HPEL audio transducers, and all subsequent Warwick products, now expanding also to automotive applications. Vance Dickason received two of the latest products to come out of the R&D labs of Acustica Beyma, the Spanish pro sound OEM transducer manufacturer, which celebrated 50 years in 2019. This review focuses on the T-25M NFM 1" aluminum/magnesium alloy metal dome tweeter. Specifications detail a 20W AES power handling, recommended crossover frequency of 2.5kHz (with a 12dB/octave high-pass filter), and 88dB at 2.83V/1m sensitivity. The new GRAS EQset Microphone technology is a new advancement that guarantees fixed sensitivity and a flat response curve across all frequencies in every EQset-enabled microphone. Essentially the new EQset technology introduces an equalized microphone, with a flat response curve and uniform fixed gain out of the box, vastly reducing the risk of measurement errors.

Klippel Updates dB-Lab and QC Software with Improved Features for R&D and Production

Klippel has released a new software update for the Klippel Analyzer System with various new features for both R&D and QC applications. The most important updates include an improved Time Frequency Analysis (TFA) module, the official release for the QC 3D Spectrogram Limits (3DL) optional module for Quality Control (QC) testing, while adding Impedance (IMP) for T/S parameter testing and Motor + Suspension Check (MSC) tasks, among other features, to the QC Stand-alone software. The update is free of charge for all users running dB-Lab 212 or QC7.
