Voyage Audio, the creators of the Spatial Mic Dante and USB ambisonic microphones, have updated the Spatial Mic Converter Plugin v1.6.5 – a software update that includes Audio Unit (AU) compatibility with macOS software. This makes it easy to leverage the spatial audio capabilities of DAWs like Logic Pro. The San Diego-based company is now shipping both microphones already with the new plugin.

Pylon Audio Loudspeakers Earn WiSA HT Interoperability Certification

The Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA) announced that another European manufacturer and Association member, Pylon Audio, has earned the WiSA HT Interoperability Certification for its Jasper line of high-end home audio loudspeakers. The Polish company is going to offer WiSA-enabled active models of its Jasper line, which includes the Jasper 25 mkII, Jasper Monitor 18 and Jasper 23. All will be available for purchase in select countries beginning March 6.

Netflix Promotes AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio Powered by Sennheiser

Netflix has announced a series of brand-new features for subscribers on its Premium plan, including a surround renderer, powered by Sennheiser’s AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio technology. The pitch says "Members on Netflix’s Premium plan using a stereo system will experience immersive cinematic audio on more than 700 top titles – all on their existing hardware." In reality, Netflix is basically supporting a spatialization rendering engine for content that isn't Dolby Atmos.

Designed to work in harmony with LG’s latest OLED TVs, the SC9 and SE6 models support MQA and Tidal Connect, meaning Tidal members can stream Tidal Masters – at the highest quality – over Wi-Fi to the new LG soundbars. Cadence Design Systems announced that its Tensilica HiFi DSP now supports Dolby Atmos for cars, making it the first DSP IP with this capability. Cadence has optimized the Dolby car experience technology to run on the Tensilica HiFi DSP for audio playback of Dolby Atmos for cars. Offloading Dolby Atmos to the low-energy, high-performance Tensilica HiFi DSP enables system-on-chip (SoC) providers to offer automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers a more energy-efficient implementation without affecting the audio experience.
