Test Bench: Celestion CDX1-1732 1" Compression Driver

The Celestion CDX1-1732 is driven by a 44 mm (1.75") diameter voice coil wound with edge-wound copper-clad aluminum wire on a high-temperature fiberglass non-conducting former driving a single piece polyimide diaphragm and surround. For this Test Bench, Celestion supplied its 1” H1-7050 “No Bell” elastomer (plastic rubber) damped cast aluminum 70° × 50° exponential flare horn. VC - Unveiled for the first time at NAMM 2019, the new Celestion Ruby is an alnico-magnet guitar speaker that’s purpose-built to create vintage tones – and at 35-watts power handling, it’s ideal for use with mid-powered amps and combos. The other new model is the G10 Creamback, a 10" addition to Celestion guitar range, hand-built in the UK using the same production methods and materials developed for the 12-inch models. The G10 Creamback uses a ceramic magnet and a 1.75-inch voice coil to deliver 45-watt power handling.

In this Test Bench I characterized the CDX14-2420 1.4” compression driver from UK Pro Sound OEM manufacturer Celestion. Designed for use with 1.4” throat horns, the CDX14-2420 has a 35.6 mm (1.4”) throat diameter driven by a 60 mm (2.4”) diameter voice coil wound with edgewound copper-clad aluminum wire (CCAW) on a high-temperature fiberglass non-conducting former, which drives a deep-drawn titanium diaphragm and polyimide surround. Test Bench: Celestion AN2075 2" Full-Range Compact Array Driver

The Celestion AN2075 has a 2”-diameter aluminum cone neodymium motor full-range transducer primarily intended for use in line source arrays. The AN2075 is built on a proprietary six-spoke molded-glass reinforced ABS frame.
