Following up on the first Virtual ALTI-EXPO edition, which was highly praised for the quality of its content but was affected by few technical hurdles, the second Virtual ALTI-EXPO promoted by the Audio & Loudspeaker Technologies International association will take place July 15. This will be a full day of expanded presentations promoted as a service to ALTI's Members and the audio industry. Sessions start at 9AM EDT, and attendance is FREE.

The annual conference moved to an online format in order to better accommodate the uncertainty in travel and in-person meetings. Program highlights still include keynote talks, presentations, and panel discussions featuring speakers across all fields of engineering, apart from the traditional news announcements. There will still be Interactive Tech Café sessions on modeling topics, featuring questions from users, and lecture-based mini-courses for both new and experienced users.

A Novel Constant Directivity Horn

Dario Cinanni details its acoustic simulation study about high-frequency horn driver transducers. Using a novel equation that correlates the matrix of a virtual horn and measured compression driver pressure, it is possible to easily predict the absolute sound pressure level (SPL) of the real horn driver frequency response. The results showed a good match between simulations and measurements up to 15 kHz. This article was originally published in Voice Coil, December 2019.

Like the previous conference that was held in 2016 in Aalborg, Denmark, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Headphone Technology Conference in San Francisco, was a very successful and insightful event for all the participants. The Presidio park venue was also idyllic with the usual crisp waterfront weather. Perhaps too successful, as the event was sold out before it opened.

The annual ALMA International Symposium & Expo (AISE) 2019, took place June 9–10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Universal Orlando, just prior to InfoComm 2019. Once again, it was the strongest event ever for anyone in the loudspeaker and electroacoustic development in general. This was the first event since the association decided to move away from Las Vegas and CES, and leverage the opportunities of working closer with the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (AVIXA) and its annual trade show, InfoComm.
