During CES 2025, TDK announced an enhanced next-generation InvenSense VibeSense360 motion sensor solution that will enable state-of-the-art spatial audio head tracking in new true wireless earbuds. The new VibeSense360 TWS solution includes motion sensor software, running on the latest SmartMotion ICM-45606 inertial measurement unit (IMU) that enables concurrent features of spatial audio, keyword assist, transparency for talk, head/UI gestures, and machine learning. The 220µA @50Hz 6-Axis IMU delivers industry-leading performance and battery life for TWS applications.
Already sampling to developers, the new TDK InvenSense VibeSense360 enables concurrent execution of multiple features with ultra-low-power. According to TDK, with the addition of a head tracking solution at 280µA, this is now the lowest-power 6-axis IMU for spatial audio applications, with industry-leading accuracy. The solution was also developed to support active processing modes that detect when the user is speaking through bone conduction and can automatically shift from noise cancellation to transparency mode, as well as pause any audio that may be playing.
As with any motion sensor, the new TDK InvenSense VibeSense360 is useful in assisting with always-on microphones in detecting human voice activity through bone conduction, ensuring more secure, accurate and ultra-low-power keyword detection while avoiding false triggers – even in noisy environments. The new TDK device also supports gesture activity detection expanding the possibilities for user interface. The new sensor enables a smooth user experience through always-on gesture detections like tap, double tap, triple tap, wide-area tap, head gestures like shake and nod, and activity/inactivity detection to trigger fitness/health monitoring.
Finally, using TDK’s machine learning algorithms built to run inside the IMU, the new VibeSense360 solution can train the device to recognize certain customized activities and gestures, assigning commands or actions to allow the user’s head motion to control the TWS system.
The VibeSense360 solution is based on the InvenSense lowest-power SmartMotion IMU, with 3-axis gyroscope plus 3-axis accelerometer, which has seen tremendous customer adoption since it was first announced at CES 2023.
“The next-gen VibeSense360 solution gives customers more design flexibility by adding more UI gestures specially designed for TWS applications. Plus, it offers further system power savings by running multiple features including machine learning concurrently on the IMU,” says Pankaj Aggarwal, VP and GM of Consumer and Industrial Motion business unit at InvenSense, a TDK group company. “VibeSense360 sets new standards for premium audio experiences in the TWS market.”

At CES 2025, TDK also announced the new InvenSense PositionSense – a new 2-chip 9-axis sensor solution enabling next-gen positioning accuracy for navigation, wearable, mobile, and AR/VR devices. As the newest TDK sensor solution for precise orientation and relative position detection, PositionSense integrates TDK’s lowest-power 6-axis IMU and TMR-based 3-axis magnetometer with on-chip sensor fusion software and calibration software to enable fast and accurate orientation tracking.
