New Triad SA1 Streaming Amplifier with Control4 Integration

May 3 2024, 00:35
In line with the trend for a new generation of audio components that blend the modern convenience of streaming with hifi performance and smart home integration, Triad announced the immediate availability of its Triad SA1 Streaming Amplifier. The Ryff-enabled Triad SA1 builds on the success of the Triad One by adding HDMI ARC/eARC capability, new DSP features, OvrC (cloud service) compatibility and convenient user controls.

The Triad announcement still arrives in the name of Snap One, the name of the business acquired by Resideo Technologies, and which will soon fall into Resideo's ADI Global Distribution business. As the resulting name for the agglomerate company that acquired Control4, we can hardly wait for the name "Snap One" to disappear forever (and who ever thought it was a good idea?).

Anyway, the new Triad SA1 Streaming Amplifier is a perfectly example of a product that perfectly falls into the Control4 ecosystem and its vision for residential and smart living integration. This powerful streaming amplifier offers a range of premium features including 2x200w power, HDMI ARC/eARC capability, advanced integration support for Control4 and MoIP systems, presets for Triad and Episode speakers, a 6-band parametric EQ and improved connector options and hardware. All in a compact all-metal chassis, that is equally ready to be on a living room shelf or a technical rack.

"With the introduction of the powerful Triad SA1 Streaming Amplifier, partners can now easily deliver new levels of enjoyment for a variety of audio needs with easy-to-use customization tools, advanced components, compatibility with all the latest audio formats and native integration with the Control4 smart home system," says Michael Buratto, Director of Product Management.

The improvements delivered by the SA1 empower "Partners" (the name used by Control4 for integrators) to seamlessly integrate superior-quality wireless audio throughout homes to support multizone systems, media room audio and listening room solutions. With the addition of ARC/eARC capability, audio quality for TV and movies can be optimized to the maximum available quality for any audio format, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby DTS:X and a variety of high-definition and lossless formats.

Users and installers of the prior Triad One solution will notice the greatly expanded adjustability and controls with the SA1’s new DSP, which include multichannel downmixing, a 6-band parametric EQ for room tuning, speaker presets for Triad and Episode speakers to simplify setup and optimize quality, a 3-band parametric EQ with crossover for subwoofers, zone controls, a lip sync delay function and high-quality toslink connections. Integrators can also ensure lasting connections through the use of 4-way binding posts instead of phoenix connectors, while users benefit from new physical buttons for volume and play/pause control on the front of the unit itself.

The Triad SA1 is also fully compatible with the Control4's OvrC remote systems management solution, allowing integrators real-time insight into the status and performance of the amplifier to aid in troubleshooting. The SA1 natively integrates with the Control4 system as well, making it simple to add new zones to existing clients' systems and helping communicate the value of a well-designed and planned home technology ecosystem. Each SA1 supports a single zone of 2-channel audio, plus a subwoofer line output and two IR outputs that afford control of local devices such as TVs.
Explaining a bit what exactly is this Ryff-enabled reference - which is part of Control4's very unique "lingo", this the company's branding for the native streaming audio platform within Control4. The Ryff audio platform provides up to a 24-bit/192kHz decoding, and includes MQA support. It also includes network-based audio synchronization to prevent echoes and lag across multiple simultaneous zones, including those connected wirelessly. In addition, the Ryff audio experience integrates 12 of the most popular streaming services, including Pandora, Spotify, SiriusXM, TIDAL, and more.

This allows the SA1 to be easily connected to existing Ryff-based systems and components. Integrators can perfect installations with adjustable controls like crossover, tone control and delays, along with end-user controls like parametric EQ, media sharing, and multizonal controls. The SA1 maintains reliable connections using dual-band 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi.

The Triad SA1 is available in either black or white. Following launch, the company will also introduce Airplay 2 capability.
