August 30 2024, 00:25
NAD Electronics has announced the launch of new firmware for its network-controlled rack-mounted distribution amplifiers which bring an improved webUI for simpler configuration alongside a host of new features. Installers will now be able take advantage of a new dashboard on their CI 16-60, CI 8-120, and CI 8-150 amplifiers, to clearly view amplifier status, a new zone configuration area, as well as further DSP controls like limiters, delay, phase control and EQ adjustments.

The new firmware updates for the NAD CI Amplifier range introduces fresh dashboard views on system status and DSP settings that now include limiters, delay, and phase control. The DSP amplifier updates available for CI 16-60 V2, CI 8-120 V2 and CI 8-150 V2 models will be presented at CEDIA 2024 in Denver, CO.

"Installers are focused on efficiency and versatility," notes Peter Gibb, CI Product Manager for NAD Electronics. "We know this and have redesigned the firmware from the bottom up to ensure we deliver products that are convenient and easy for installers to use and optimize for their discerning clientele."

The new dashboard offers improved real time feedback of amplifier status and channel usage. Easy to setup options include access all network and power settings, including standby timings for each unit. There is also a new Zones configuration page, allowing installers to create, edit, and configure zones, including mute, sleep, and global input controls.

The intuitive DSP controls now include Peak and RMS limiters and Phase and Delay controls to improve use with passive subwoofers. New tilt control offers quick EQ adjustments. Users can choose from a number of DSP profiles for popular speaker brands, including DALI and PSB Speakers to quickly optimize speaker performance and assign them to an output channel. It'a also possible to password protect the configuration to prevent unauthorized changes.

The ability to remotely monitor the amplifiers through 3rd party platforms such as Domotz will be improved with better status feedback from the amplifier.

The firmware for existing units will be updated via an over-the-air update in late September 2024, while new units will be shipped with the firmware already installed. Lenbrook product specialists will be on hand to demonstrate the new firmware at CEDIA Expo, September 5-7, 2024, at the Colorado Convention Center, stand 3517.
