McIntosh Launches MX200 11.2 Channel Processor for Home Cinema

Luxury audio brand McIntosh Laboratory announced the new MX200 A/V Processor, with specifications to match the requirements of upscale home cinema system owners who like to keep their gear very prominently in sight. Merging cutting-edge technology with unmatched performance, the new MX200 offers up to 11.2 channels of signal processing and can adapt seamlessly to various home theater configurations, ranging from 5.1 all the way up to 7.2.4 surround sound speaker arrangements, with image support for 8K HDR sources, just in case. For a company such as McIntosh, offering cutting-edge technology needs to be combined with the right level of refinement, in this case to complement the ultimate in home cinema entertainment without hiding the system itself. The new MX200 A/V Processor was designed to effortlessly cater to both DIY enthusiasts and seasoned professional integrators as part of a custom install project - as long as this equipment remains visible. The McIntosh MX200 boasts a sleek, streamlined design that complements any luxury entertainment space. 

From the point of view of supported video sources, the MX200 is ready for 8K, 4K, or HD resolution content from streaming services or Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD discs. And with support for immersive audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, of course. In addition, compatibility with a variety of McIntosh home theater amplifiers and surround sound speakers offers users the ability to customize their system with the MX200.
 
Those signal sources can come from four HDMI inputs, and there's one HDMI output with support for 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video, compatible with HDCP 2.3. Obviously, processing High Dynamic Range (HDR) formats such as Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG in 4:4:4 color spacing; Rec. 2020; and with 3D video pass-through. The HDMI output also features enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) functionality, and there are two coax and two optical digital inputs to connect additional audio devices such as a CD player, tuner, or music streamer. Seven premium 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) provide all the processing. Analog audio inputs include a Moving Magnet phono input to connect a turntable, along with a pair of balanced and unbalanced auxiliary inputs to connect other audio devices. To connect to home theater amplifiers, the MX200 has 11 discrete balanced outputs and two discrete unbalanced subwoofer outputs. Finally, there are even bass and treble tone controls to help deal with some of those audio sources.

Obviously, the MX200 also comes with Dirac Live Room Correction Full Bandwidth and its corresponding license, delivering advanced room adjustment and correction. Integrators will be able to load preconfigured installation file, with backup options via computer or USB providing the freedom for users or integrators to experiment with different configuration settings. Control is either dedicated remote control, or home automation system integration via RS232 control protocol, already with Control4 Certification and Works with Crestron Home Certification.

While the processor is in use, owners will be able to appreciate the beautiful aluminum and glass front panel, with an illuminated McIntosh logo and rotary control knobs - sometimes more beautiful than the movie being played. All in a compact 2U rack size (rack mounting brackets are included.
 
The new McIntosh MX200 is priced at $6,000 USD (€8,290 EUR including VAT) and will be available for purchase from August 2024.
