"We are very excited about the introduction of the Pulse 8 AE as it addresses a growing need for a smaller-scale 8-channel converter in the live and studio market,” states Derek Badala, Director of Sales at Synthax, the exclusive USA distributor for RME, Digigram, and Ferrofish, among other brands. “Many audio professionals are using gear that have a vacant ADAT I/O that can now be utilized enabling them to get more out their existing gear. RME customers who use the Babyface Pro, Fireface UC and UCX, as well as the latest Fireface UCX II now have an affordable, yet high quality professional option to add more analog I/O to their setups,” Badala suggests.
The converter features 8 balanced TRS inputs and outputs (1/4 inch), two ADAT input plus 2 ADAT output ports, word clock input and output on BNC connectors, plus a USB-C port for remote configuration using Ferrofish RemoteFish software. There is also MIDI input/output for firmware updates or potential future features. It supports SMUX for higher sample rates (up to 96kHz with 8 channels via SMUX/2 or 48kHz with 16 channels), and offers an incredible high-resolution front display for signal level monitoring (both input and output) and clear visual feedback with multi-colored LED meters, even from an equipment rack. In the front panel there are control knobs and buttons for quick navigation and configuration. Power is supplied by an external 12V/1A power supply unit.
The Pulse 8 AE will start shipping mid to late January and makes a perfect companion to any audio device that supports ADAT I/O. The new Pulse 8 AE will be demonstrated at the RME/SYNTHAX booth# 14913 during the NAMM Show.
