Bluacs Joins Audio Foundry and Licenses Its Fresh Air Technology to Tymphany

February 10 2025, 01:10
Audio Foundry, the collaborative automotive audio technology platform, announced Bluacs as its newest member. The leading speaker research company from Australia is widely recognized in the industry for its Fresh Air Speaker technology, applicable to woofer and subwoofer designs that leverage the full car cabin volume. As part of this collaboration, Tymphany will be licensing Bluacs' technologies to advance in-vehicle sound experiences.

Audio Foundry continues to expand its alliance of forward-thinking companies, providing a platform for co-development and knowledge sharing within the automotive audio landscape. The addition of Bluacs to Audio Foundry's member alliance is the latest example of how companies are committed to fostering advanced acoustic solutions for vehicles by sharing a common design and development ecosystem.

Bluacs is a recognized expert in speaker distortion and low frequency speaker design. The company's premier technology, the Fresh Air Speaker enables a ten-fold increase in sound pressure in the ultra-low frequency range, reproducing sounds below 60Hz that regular subwoofers cannot match. The concept has also been identified to be highly beneficial for active noise cancellation in the 10-150Hz range.

"Bluacs expertise aligns seamlessly with Audio Foundry’s mission to bring together like-minded companies and to bridge the gap between automotive manufacturers, audio engineers, and interior designers, ensuring seamless integration of next generation acoustic technologies," states the announcement.

In addition to joining Audio Foundry, Bluacs has entered a partnership with Tymphany, licensing its Fresh Air Speaker® technology (FAS). "This partnership marks a significant milestone in automotive acoustics, enabling the development of fresh, clear, and dynamic sound experiences in modern vehicles. FAS technology has proven to revolutionize how sound is delivered, helping reach efficient performance levels while saving weight and space," Tymphany adds.

"We’re excited to join the Audio Foundry ecosystem," says Greg Turnidge, Managing Director, Bluacs. "Our expertise in sound control and NVH solutions aligns perfectly with Audio Foundry’s mission to push the boundaries of automotive audio. With our design philosophy around innovation, we’re looking to unlock new possibilities for automotive audio — delivering powerful, high-fidelity sound with greater efficiency and control."

The addition of Bluacs further solidifies Audio Foundry’s position as a leading hub for automotive acoustic innovation. Bluacs will leverage Audio Foundry's Makerspace and collaborative member network to explore the development and implementation of innovative sound solutions. The company aims to address key challenges such as road noise cancellation, active sound enhancement, and immersive in-cabin experiences.

Founded in 2023, Audio Foundry offers a creative platform for OEMs, component manufacturers, and technology providers. The first makerspace is situated in Wales, UK.
