Joining the concept and design of the successful 18LEX1600Nd introduced last year at Prolight+Sound, this year Beyma introduced two new high performance subwoofers, the new 21LEX1600Nd and 15LEX1600Nd. And to reinforce even more its woofer choices for 2018, the Spanish company announced a new family of 4 neodymium woofers with patented Maltcross technology. Beyma also unveiled three new compression drivers of small size.
As with the development of the 18LEX1600Nd, for the two new 21LEX1600Nd and 15LEX1600Nd woofers, Beyma also included an interesting mixing of artistic design approach, combined with the most advanced engineering techniques to develop a key part of the speaker, the frame, which features an optimized mechanical design with a shape that intends to reference Gaudi’s “modernisme art”.
The new subs feature long excursion capabilities, very high output and very low distortion and have been designed for performing better in vented cabinets and loaded horn designs. Both are top competitive weight/performance units thanks to an optimized F.E.A. motor structure which features the exclusive Maltcross technology.
But Beyma also unveiled a new family of woofers with patented Maltcross technology, with new 8, 10, 12, and 15-inch models, all with an optimized neodymium motor structure of very low weight. The concept for this new family is to achieve high efficiency in bass and mid/bass applications for high performance systems where high sensitivity, high linearity, low distortion, low weight and high total SPL are required.
The new 8MC500Nd is a speaker with 2.5” coil, a sensitivity of around 98 dB, excellent power handling of 500 W AES and weight around 2.8 Kg. The new 10MC700Nd, 12MC700Nd and 15MC700Nd are 3” coil models, with sensitivities between 97 and 99 dB, nominal power of 700 W AES and weights between 3.6 and 4 Kg. Beyma’s Maltcross technology allows these new speakers a very efficient cooling of the voice coil, which reduces the losses by power compression and results in a more constant SPL, offering performance similar to models with larger motors and coils, which is an objective advantage in weight and performance.
Finally, for the high frequency Beyma introduced three new compression drivers of small size, with 1.75” voice coils and 1" throat. The new CD11Fe, CD11Fe/S and CD11Nd are drivers that feature the exclusive Beyma PM4 polymer, which provides very competitive performance in linearity, band pass and distortion as well as a very natural timbre that has been widely recognized by a large part of the professional audio market.
