Audiotonix Acquires Sonible

June 7 2023, 17:00
Audiotonix has announced the acquisition of Sonible, an Austrian hardware and software company working with assistive artificial intelligence -based processing solutions for professional audio. Sonible has developed plug-ins that have been recognized as a new generation of intelligent audio processing production tools, with uniquely intuitive usability and workflow-enhancing features at their core. Sonible also developed smart hardware that was adopted by many live sound engineers and was recommended by KLANG:technologies, acquired by DiGiCo in 2018.
Located in Graz, Austria, Sonible developed a product portfolio that includes multichannel amplifiers with built-in DSP for high-end audio installations and science and research projects. But most audio professionals know Sonible for the ml:mio compact MADI converter (which was adopted by German company KLANG), and the versatile ml:mio passive stereo-DI-box, USB interface, and test tone generator - a compact solution ideal for event professionals. Another odd product developed by Sonible was the IKO dodecahedron 3D speaker. The IKO was paired up with Sonible's multichannel d:24 amplifier to form a Higher Order Ambisonics (HOA) audio playback system for delivering immersive soundscapes.

The software plugins that Sonible developed are probably what caught the attention from many other companies, for its use of AI-powered algorithms to simplify the creative process. Sonible's plugin have also been popularized by Focusrite, which offered its (renamed) FAST plugin collection as part of The Collective bundle.

"The Sonible team have spent the last ten years developing the most advance assistive AI technologies for mixing and audio creation," states James Gordon, CEO of Audiotonix. "Along with investing in their growth and helping the team expand their current market solutions as Sonible, we will also look to harness their technology across our other Audiotonix brands. The potential to utilize Sonible's intelligence in our other brands will be a ground-breaking proposition for all our customers."

Ralf Baumgartner, CEO and co-founder Sonible, comments, “As a team, our mix of highly skilled engineers and creative individuals have been on a very special journey together, building the underlying technologies and culture that have become the heart of Sonible. It’s been clear from our initial discussions that Audiotonix share our passion in evolving innovative and disruptive solutions, so I’m sure we have the best environment to continue our journey with the additional knowledge, investment and resources that comes with being part of Audiotonix team."

Sonible will now join the growing Audiotonix brand portfolio of leading audio technology and solutions companies that includes Allen & Heath, Calrec, DiGiCo, DiGiGrid, Group One Limited, Harrison, KLANG:technologies, Slate Digital, Solid State Logic, and Sound Devices. Products from these brands are used extensively in live sound, broadcast, theater production, installations, house of worship, film production, and recording studios globally.
