Lawo JADE VSC Software Makes Any Windows PC AES67 Capable

December 1 2015, 03:00

Lawo’s new virtual soundcard application, JADE VSC, is now available. The software enables Windows-based audio applications to fully integrate with AoIP networks without any external hardware interfaces. JADE VSC provides 64 channels of bi-directional RAVENNA and true AES67 streaming, features integrated sample rate conversion and a VST plug-in interface allowing to combine effects.

German company Lawo is one of the leading manufacturers of audio for broadcast solutions and one of the mains forces behind the RAVENNA audio networking technology which was also the first AES67-compliant AoIP protocol on the market. Introduced at IBC 2015, JADE VSC is a new AoIP software tool which offers true 64 x 64 channel AES67 (RAVENNA) streaming with broadcast-quality sample rate conversion.

The software enables Windows-based audio applications to fully integrate with AoIP networks without any external hardware interfaces. It delivers 64 channels bi-directional RAVENNA and true AES67 streaming in the Microsoft Windows environment and provides multiple WDM drivers and an ASIO driver that can be loaded by more than one application at the same time. It also features advanced real-time broadcast-quality sample rate conversion for transparent playback of content sampled at a different rate than the network.

“JADE Virtual Soundcard is a perfect fit, whenever you just need to get audio software on PCs or Servers connected to IP-based audio networks. No matter if it’s only a single user application or a full broadcast station”, explains Mike Dosch, Director of Virtual Radio Projects at Lawo. “Broadcasters with large or remote facilities will love the fact that they can access drivers remotely via a separate control application. JADE VSC gives broadcast software developers the ability to make their products comply with the AES67 networking standard quickly and easily.”

According to Lawo, JADE VSC gives software developers the ability to make their products comply with the AES67 networking standard quickly and easily. In particular, large workgroups, such as broadcasters running larger plants will be able to access drivers remotely via a separate control application, running on the same or a different PC.

Development for the JADE Virtual Soundcard follows Lawo’s middleware implementation of its JADE Studio and JADE Engine, designed for virtual audio routing solutions from a Windows PC and providing a unified interface to all audio applications, soundcards, external devices or network audio - 64 channels of bi-directional RAVENNA and AES67 streaming. It provides advanced mixing and level control through an intuitive GUI. It even contains a suite of dedicated processing tools, created by Lawo, that can be easily dropped into the signal chain.

Lawo designs and manufactures solutions for TV and radio broadcast production, post-production, as well as live performance and theatrical applications. Products include digital audio mixing consoles, routers, video processing tools as well as solutions for IP-based A/V infrastructures and routing systems. All products are developed and manufactured at the company’s headquarters in the Rhine valley town of Rastatt, Germany.
