Nanusens has announced that it has successfully created a fully digital circuit design to measure the capacitance of its nanosensors. This means that both the sensor structure and its detection circuitry can be made at the same time within a chip using standard CMOS processes on whatever process node is required. As a result, ASICs can now be made with several different sensors embedded within them, helping to expand MEMS applications in hearables.

STMicroelectronics has announced the LSM6DSV16BX, a unique highly integrated sensor that delivers important space savings inside hearable devices or general-purpose TWS earbuds, including for sports. AMS launched the TMD2636, a fully integrated proximity sensor which occupies 30% less space than currently available solutions, and delivers transformational added value to manufacturers of True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds. The new TMD2636 fully integrated proximity sensor module is supplied in an ultra-low-profile package. This means that an earbud can now accommodate multiple proximity sensors to increase reliability or add new features and still save power when the earbud is not in use.
