AES Audio Product Education Institute Webinar Discusses Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT)

The AES Audio Product Education Institute promotes a new webinar on its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) education pillar, exploring the practical approach for AI & ML integration in audio product design and development. For this August 18 event, pillar chair Steven Willenborg invited XMOS, a company focused on embedded intelligence for edge-AI applications, now bringing AI, DSP, control and I/O together in a single device.

Renesas has announced a new reference design and combined solution for the development of voice recognition applications. The company offers an offline voice recognition algorithm that performs real time control, the Cyberon CSpotter, in a reference design that incorporates a low cost, ultra-low power RA6M1 MCU, a ISL32743E isolated high-speed RS-485 transceiver, an ISL80505 high-performance 0.5A LDO and a PS2561F-1 optically coupled UL approved isolator.

At CES 2020, Syntiant announced a partnership with Sensory, combining the expertise and technologies in AI and speech recognition at the Edge, to deliver a deep learning, multi-lingual voice interface for battery-powered devices. The combined solution merges Sensory’s larger, higher-performance TrulyHandsfree wake word engine and voice control with Syntiant’s microwatt-power Neural Decision Processors (NDPs), bringing low-latency, real-time inference to edge devices.

Sensory announced the release of a specialized model of TrulyNatural, the company's large vocabulary speech recognition and natural language understanding platform, that has been designed for voice at the edge. This domain specific assistant technology will help manufacturers create a new wave of smart kitchen appliances that don't relay voice requests to the cloud. Collaborating with Midea Microwave and Cleaner Appliances (MCA) business unit, Sensory will preview a microwave oven with a natural language user interface at CES 2020.
