Soundskrit Debuts World's First Directional MEMS Microphone

Soundskrit has developed a high-performance MEMS microphone that is able to replace traditional microphone arrays with a superior solution. First previewed at CES 2018 to much fanfare, Soundskrit's high-performance directional microphones technology combines hardware and software. The company now announced the availability of its first product, the SKR0400, the world’s first directional MEMS microphone built for the needs of current and future consumer electronics product designs.

Not many bought the first model anyway, so the announcement of the all-new second-generation Echo Buds is not that surprising, considering Amazon considers hardware as a pure extension of its services ecosystem.

At the end of July 2020, audioXpress ran a product release on Vesper's VM3011 intelligent digital micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) microphone. Its claim to fame is a power saving architecture that enables battery standby life that otherwise would be unattainable without the "smarts." There are another half-dozen developers working on integrating all sorts of capabilities within the MEMS mic package.
