Off-season, Sony Electronics jumped to the lead, and announced the WF-1000XM5 earbuds – the latest truly wireless model in its best-selling 1000X series. According to Sony's own internal research, using JEITA-compliant measurement guidelines, the new design offers the "Best Noise Canceling" by reducing external noise over a wide bandwidth, so users can focus on the music. The MEMS transducer technology from Austrian company USound has been selected by LINNER for the development of a new discreet over-the-counter (OTC) hearing device, LINNER Deluxe. The new design, very similar to true wireless earbuds like previous LINNER products, will integrate USound’s Conamara thin, lightweight, full-range MEMS speakers, recognized for their integration flexibility, and benefiting also from the Tarvos low-power amplifier integration.

Hyphen, an audio brand created by Rolling Square is pitching the Hyphen Aria true wireless earbuds, a new design intended to provide a more natural sound experience, avoiding the occlusion effect and leveraging air conduction to expand on the open-ear form-factor. While the Hyphen Aria earbuds resemble some of Bose's earlier TWS designs, the new product now being promoted on Kickstarter targets an audience that is more familiarized with the problems of current earbuds and is looking for more "healthier" alternatives.

Wireless Power Consortium Approves Release of the New Qi2 Industry Standard for Wireless Charging

Following the announcement made at CES 2023, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has released the Qi2 standard with the approval of the Qi v.2.0 Interface Specification by its Board of Directors. The release of the standard paves the way for WPC to establish a Qi2 Certification Program, enabling member companies to certify products as compatible with the new standard for wireless charging. This will be a major incentive for manufacturers and a major win for consumers.

At CES 2023, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is promoting the new wireless charging standard to unify the industry under one global standard and provide enhanced convenience and efficiency for mobile devices and wearables. As a key contributing member of the Wireless Power Consortium, Apple provided the basis for the new Qi2 standard building on its MagSafe technology. Apple and other WPC members developed the new Magnetic Power Profile, which is at the core of Qi2.
