Analog Devices Unveils New SHARC Audio Module Platform for Rapid Audio DSP Project Development

Analog Devices announced the availability of its new SHARC Audio Module (ADZS-SC589-MINI), a hardware/software platform that facilitates efficient product prototyping, development, and production of a variety of digital audio products. Delivering an innovative combination of high-performance audio signal processing components and a comprehensive software development environment, the SHARC Audio Module is ideal for effects processors, multi-channel audio systems, MIDI synthesizers, and many other DSP-based audio projects.

French professional audio manufacturer L-Acoustics, a market leader in large scale sound reinforcement systems and premium audio installations, announced the acquisition of HGP, a manufacturer of precision sheet metal, based in Amboise, France, and its sister entity API, which specializes in powder coating. According to L-Acoustics, both companies were already regular suppliers and the acquisition will enable better R&D support, faster prototyping, and tighter production schedules.

Hammond Manufacturing has introduced 4U high versions and added extended 559mm depths to all heights of its RM family of 1U - 4U 19 inch rack mounting and desktop enclosures. 1U to 3U half-width versions are also available. The all-aluminum construction consists of a heavy-duty extruded frame with removable vented or plain top and bottom covers. 19 inch units are supplied with rack mounting angles; both 19 inch and half width variants come complete with self-adhesive rubber feet for when the enclosure is to be used as a desktop unit.

Designers who have traditionally used Microchip’s PIC microcontrollers (MCUs) and developed with the MPLAB ecosystem can now easily evaluate and incorporate AVR MCUs - the family of microcontrollers developed since 1996 by Atmel and acquired by Microchip Technology in 2016 - into their applications. The majority of AVR MCUs are now beta supported with the release of MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) version 5.05, available now from Microchip.
