Test Bench: Faital Pro’s 5PR120 - 5” Pro Midrange Driver

The Faital Pro 5PR120 is a high sensitivity and high-power handling 5” midrange driver, built on a proprietary six-spoke cast-aluminum frame, with four vents below the spider mounting shelf, and additional cooling provided by a pole vent. It features a curvilinear inverted single piece “bowl” shaped paper cone and black anodized aluminum dust cap. The motor is a FEA-optimized neodymium ring, and driving the cone is a 32mm voice coil wound with round copper wire on a non-conducting Kapton former.

Thanks to Lenbrook Americas, the distributor of revered Danish loudspeaker brand DALI, we learn about the launch of the DALI IO-8 headphones. This is the fourth model in the luxury headphones category from DALI, and like the previous IO-4, IO-6, and IO-12, all are entirely designed in-house according to the highest possible standards in terms of engineering, durability, comfort and functionality. The new IO-8 wireless headphones are based on the same platform of the IO-12, and they cost just a bit less.

The driver characterized in this Test Bench is a new 8.25" paper cone woofer, which is only the second pro audio design from the Wavecor, renowned for its high-end home hi-fi drivers. The company decided to expand its catalog with new OEM pro audio woofers, and the WF211PA01 is basically a smaller version of the WF259PA01 10" woofer explicated in the February 2024 issue of Voice Coil. Test Bench: The 10NW76 Pro Sound High SPL 10” Driver from B&C Speakers

The driver on this Test Bench is from B&C Speakers and clearly designed for professional audio. The 10NW76 was designed for uses in line arrays, small two-way monitors, and as a subwoofer, or as a midbass driver in multiway systems. It uses a proprietary 12-spoke (six double spokes) cast-aluminum frame with a series of cooling vents that allow air to move past the voice coil and across the front side of the neodymium motor assembly.
