The OCA Alliance Highlights AES70 and IP Media Control at AES NY 2022 and SMPTE Media Technology Summit

The OCA Alliance, a non-profit corporation formed to promote the AES70 standard and Open Control Architecture (OCA) ecosystem, as a control solution for professional media networking applications will present the latest features in the standard’s upcoming release at two important industry events. First with a presentation at the AES NY convention, October 19-20, followed by the annual SMPTE Media Technology Summit, in Hollywood, CA.

Merging Technologies announced the availability of its AES67 embedded solution for the ADSP-SC5xx SHARC series of System on Chips (SoCs) from Analog Devices. Merging Technologies’ experience in the audio over IP (AoIP) field (Ravenna/AES67) and Analog Device's experience in unified communications and pro-audio applications, has led to a collaboration that broadens the range of AoIP solutions for manufacturers of electronics and ultimately integrators.

The OCA Alliance will offer a sneak peek of the latest version of the AES70 device control standard at ISE 2022. The AES70-2022 release, originally intended to be released in 2021, will be upwards-compatible from the current AES70-2018 and offers several significant enhancements for new and improved features along with several documentation upgrades for increased clarity, readability and precision.

Networked audio continues to play an ever-expanding role in a wide variety of pro audio applications, from recording and production, to live sound, installs, and more, with a near ubiquity of network capabilities on new gear and the bridging of proprietary standards by the AES67 and AES70 protocols. The Audio Networking Track events, taking place during the 147th AES New York Convention, October 16–19 at the Javits Center, are set to connect the latest technologies and techniques with attendees looking to take their audio networking skills to the next level.

The OCA Alliance – the AV trade association formed to promote awareness, implementation and development of the AES70 open network control standard – has announced the release of the latest revision of the AES70-2018 standard with new developer tools and resources, making implementation “easier than ever before”. The result of several years of collaborative work within the OCA Alliance and the AES, AES70-2018 is an evolutionary upgrade to the original AES70-2015 standard.
