Audio Collaborative 2018: Live Sound, Pro Audio, Artists, and the Audio Industry

For the fifth consecutive year, market research firm Futuresource Consulting promoted its Audio Collaborative conference, a highly successful event dedicated to the latest audio trends. This year, Audio Collaborative 2018 was an all-day event, held in London, UK, on November 8, 2018. In this article I look at another two of the sessions, the panels discussing live and touring trends, and how the pro audio industry can leverage opportunities in the consumer space; and try to summarize some key content, and maybe add some context and perspective.

L-Acoustics will return to NAMM 2019 with an enhanced booth and demo space, ready to promote one of the most exciting developments in sound reinforcement for live performances since the inception of the line array. Following a series of historical performances where L-Acoustics was praised for its L-ISA Immersive technology debuting in shows across all continents, the French manufacturer will use the Winter NAMM show in Anaheim to further promote the revolutionary concept, powered by its latest range of high-quality speaker designs.

At InfoComm 2018, the immersive audio, 3D audio, spatial audio demonstrations - call it what you will - where certainly one of the highlights. At the Las Vegas show, Avid announced that development partners Flux::, d&b audiotechnik, and L-Acoustics have each integrated their immersive sound processing solutions with the company's Venue S6L live sound system. All were part of the demonstrations, which obviously demand a tight integration with mixing automation.

L-Acoustics continues its campaign to change the live sound industry with its new approach to multi-source immersive sound reinforcement systems, since it launched its L-ISA technology in 2017. Because L-ISA demands a complete multi-layer sound design solution, the company now announced new partnerships with Avid, Blacktrax, DiGiCo and KLANG:technologies. L-Acoustics will promote L-ISA demonstrations at Prolight+Sound 2018 with these companies.
