Bettear, an assistive listening technology startup, announced the launch of its first Auracast products: the B-CASTER streamer and B-RTX transceiver, designed to enhance audio accessibility for visitors of culture venues and beyond with a ready to use solution. The two new Auracast devices are being field-tested to validate its performance in public spaces. To transform the experience of people with hearing impairments, Bettear is also testing integration with hearing aids, cochlear implants, and Auracast hearables.

Following a very successful presence at Sensors Converge 2024 in Santa Clara, CA (June 25-26), where TDK promoted its range of MEMS microphones and sensors, the company announced worldwide distribution of its InvenSense SmartSound T5848 bottom port I²S MEMS microphone. This device is ideal to enable intelligent keyword, voice command and sound detection applications in ultra-low power designs, such has hearables and wearables. Originally announced at CES 2022, this MEMS microphone only now is available for general distribution.

Harman Opens Consumer Audio Engineering Lab in Denmark and New Factory in Thailand

Harman International Industries has opened an Audio Engineering Lab in Kvistgaard, Denmark, aiming to research and develop new headphone audio technologies. Harman's newest audio lab, dedicated to hearables development, is the first of its kind in Europe, benefiting from pool of audio and acoustic engineers that graduate from Denmark universities, among other advantages. Harman also announced a new manufacturing facility in Thailand, to support Harman's portfolio of automotive and components solutions.

Now that headphones and earphones are adding situational awareness, hearing protection and hearing enhancement features, HEAD acoustics created new test methods to evaluate these functions, faithfully simulating environments that a consumer might typically encounter when using products with these features.
